This came off a turbo diesel pick up at work. The truck only
had about 10k miles on it. I’m betting I can make this work on Scuby!

I’ll take a picture of it tonight with the original intercooler so you can see how much bigger it is.

As a side note, same diameter tube as the sc’s.

I went home at lunch and got the sc intercooler and the radiator. Plenty of room for everything.

Just a little larger, huh? That’s the sc intercooler on top. That’s the sc radiator in front of it.

I’ll do a tubular lower on the radiator support like Scott did. Give me that extra room.

I’ll pressure test it tomorrow.
 
Doesnt a giant intercooler create a significant boost drop?
A good portion of boost (pressure) drop is due to the cooling of the air/charge temp. During one run in the drag car, the I/C pump did not work, and my air/charge temps went through the roof. The end result was a boost reading 10 psi higher than if the I/C pump had been on. The car made no more power even though the boost was significantly higher. I have data-logged the pressure difference before and after I/C and saw only a 1.5 psi drop. 18 psi after and 19.5 before. This is at around 1K power. Obviously my set up is a bit different that what is pictured, but maybe worth noting.
 
You should have plenty of room between the condenser and the bumper support for that thing....with only minor trimming. The tubular lower just gave me more room for piping.

Seems like one could be made way cheaper and easier than the one I got. All you need is a welder and a tubing bender.

How wide is the space between the inlet/outlet pipes ? Will a condenser or radiator fit between them ? I don't know how wide a v8 fox radiator is but.....:shrug:

Don't know for sure yet, I'm going to check tomorrow to see if a full size fox radiator will fit between the inlet and out.

I'll probably just buy the team z lower for the radiator support.

Is a 4.2 stoker worthwhile?

There's no replacement for displacement. More cubes equals more power potential. Since there's a factory 4.2 version of this engine, it would be a super easy choice to make. Unless it has some stupid ass hollow crank like a 255 sbf.


So then, cleaning, checking the integrity of the block and measurements for the first trip.

You could always just gunk the hell out of it and take it to the car wash, then deburr the block, open up oil return holes and the like. Get rid of sharp edges. No since doing the edges of the deck since it's going to get decked, but the bellhousing, oil pan rails, timing cover, etc. Sharp edges can lead to cracks and cut the hell out of you! Just super detail that block. With your skills, you could sand it smooth and prep it for a super paint job that no one can see once it's in the chassis, too!! lol.
 
Dave all things equal, the m112 will flow more simply because it is a larger displacement blower.

The adapter is really cool however you will be in the same boat as myself relying on wmeth as the intercooler.

Cost is the next item, compare prices.

I think the m112 Essex 6 will be sweet.
