Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Welding Holes in My Rear

I knew work would be slow this morning so I brought rail number 4 down here to use my air tools to shape it. Much easier this way!

I’m going to cut out the pieces I’ll need to fill those cutouts too. I just need to take it home and fit it up to Booger and do any final trimming before welding it up.

Got the little patch plates made and cleaned up the pieces.

Now I just need to go home and fit it up, do the final trimming and weld it.

I know I said I wasn't going to post the details of the right side cs, but I haven't got to work on it much because of the bathroom. So here's more details you'll probably remember from the left side.

I took those pieces from earlier, fit it all up, trimmed them, and welded them together.

Then i dressed the welds.

That's it for tonight.

I've been doing a little here and there today between foot ball games. Sooners lost to Texas.....oh well, it was a fun game to watch in the end though. My Iowa Hawkeyes are winning

I finished getting all five rungs made and tack welded on. I got a couple of the cross brace pieces, but then it started pouring down rain. Rain and electric tools don't mix too well so I'm taking a break.

I got a little further today. I did the third cross brace. This is the third of three that comes into contact with the floor, but not enough to require a cutout. I just beat the hell out of it till it fits, lol.

That's it probably for this weekend.

I'm going in to work tomorrow to shoot that Boss 302, then it will be the rest of the day spent on walls in the bathroom. I hope to have half the bathroom walls completed with the knock down texturing.

Still, I'll finish the initial fabrication of the cs this week and drop it out to do the perimeter welding, etc....

Then comes the finishing cleaning and painting of the front floorpan.

Then the rear floorpan gets attention.

I will cut out the upper control arm supports like what @Hoytster did with his.

I need to give my lower torque box some thought as well. The reinforcements need to go in there some time. I think I'll need to fit the IRS and make the hardtail mounts first though. I want to be sure of the width of the lower torque box mounting point.

So I was going to get the last two diagonal bars done (or mostly done) tonight.

I got the second to last fit and welded.

Then I started measuring and getting ready to cut the last bar.

My neighbor is moving.......there was a nice couple out front of their house looking it over.

I was thinking, what a perfect chance to show my grinding skills, lol.

Nope, I stopped working on Booger so they won't have to know who I am till after they sign their contracts.

Here's a neat little find that I accidentally ran into. It's the spacer for between the pedal box and the firewall.

When I removed my old auto pedal box, the old spacer was broken in several pieces. I was thinking I would have had to get creative with that one.
