Yes you can. I had an Adj one and it stretched on me while going down the track.

OEM w/ a fw adjuster will work.

I believe you will have to modify the stock cable a little to make it work. There is a how-to on Maximum Motorsports :: The Leader In Mustang Performance Suspension. Nothing major, just removing a couple of tabs on the piece that goes into the firewall.

I have the Ford Racing cable/quadrant kit and it works great. I would suggest MM or Ford Racing, non adjustable

....You can re-use you stock cable and mod it or buy a new one. MM Sells a Free-modded OEM cable you can buy. Just stick with the fiore quadrant and Adjuster, they are the best hands down

I had an aftermarket cable break on my old 87 in the Tractor Supply parking lot. But I had another one at the house. Got someone to come get me and I got the stuff and changed it in the parking lot. So I'm just going to keep the stock cable and change the other stuff later.

We bought one from Advanced about 18 months ago. Adjustable at the clutch-fork end, came with an aluminum quadrant replacement. It has survived just fine for 18 months, with a trip to the strip every couple of weeks, sometimes more often than that, plus daily driving on the street. Aftermarket cables are not necessarily bad, if they are routed properly and not kinked or bent.

I have been using the Steeda kit for 2 years no problems. It came with an non-adjustable OEM cable, double hook quadrant, and a firewall adjuster. I did have to mod the end of the cable at the firewall adjuster, which was just a matter of cutting of the OEM bracket.

I will say the Fiore adjuster is nicer because of the "click adjustment". Most important would have to be the initial adjustment at the clutch fork end. That is where you obtain the best pedal position and medium point. The firewall adjuster will fine tune it.
