I held the lower scoops in place and traced around them with a pencile ,this gives me a reference point and a place to measure from . I measured from the top of the scoop and the end of the scoop to the center of the mounting stud and transfered those measurements to the body using my pencile lines and drilled the mounting hole
Once the scoop was attached with the stud i drilled the two screw holes with a 1/8 bit ,right through the scoop and the body. Two sheet metal screws in the front of each scoop and they are both mounted . Now the front fiberglass ,and i am waiting for materials for that
This looks like sooo much work lol. I ended up buying the 68 coupe with the intention of doing this. Front half of the car is good, back half is pretty rusty. Going to get it media blasted and then save for the fastback conversion from dynacorn, and hopefully piece it all together okay. I have no way to get measurements like you mentioned unfortunately. Going to be pretty tough
I know i was going to take the rest of the day off ,but i got bored haha.
I went ahead and bolted the headlight buckets on the fenders ,it is way easier to do with the fenders off. The passenger side is right on ,the driver fender has had some work so i have to very slightly sand the side of the bucket to match ,but not very much
the front valance is next . Starting at the headlight bucket and valance ,there can be no gap here it has to fit tight . Passenger bucket has a tight gap ,but driver needs the headlight bucket trimmed to get a straight line
after grinding with my angle grinder a have a perfectly straight line . I am only holding the valance in place ,it will be clamped at both sides and the bolt holes will be drilled with a 1/4drill bit so every time i take it apart it will go back together the same every time. And this pic will be in the next post because it will not let me ad it

Got all the inside spot welds ground ,just a few to go in the trunk ...i bet the neighbors didnt like that haha ,pay back is a noisy birtch ,all those loud parties,all the fireworks set off over my house ,now this grinding ,this is noise haha .
I fixed the hood hinge mounting in the aprons ,then i sand blasted and primerd the hinges and bolted them loosly .
I sat the hood in place ,all by my self ,and adjusted to fit the cowl

I bolted on the front valance ,making sure to have the tightest gap between the valance and headlight buckets
the hood extension is last ,the gaps are so tight at the front of the hood i actually had to trim the peak about 1 /8 inch ,but look at that nice gap
The head light buckets need trimming and a bit on the valance , i want this to line up perfect,so using my angle sander i ground down the over hang untill everything was the same
After trimming ,nice and neat with no more over hanging fiberglass
Here it is ,finished on the outside ,at least for me . I still have to fill the quarter window holes in the door jamb ,and a small bit of grinding in the trunk and we will say good buy to another 68 coupe to fast back conversion
The lighting isnt very good this morning .
The trunk lid is just tied down ,i dont have a latch to close it all the way . Right now the car is setting crooked because a tire blew out ...scared the crap out of me haha
