Hey guys I think my glass packs have gone bad. Well I got the SLP Loudmouth and I started hearing like a rattle up by my drivers side. Well I didnt know what the heck the noise was so I asked my father in law and he thinks the rattling is my Exhaust. He says the Glasspack has gone bad and its echoing up at my Longtubes giving like "loose change" rattling around. Any input would help. thx

Well I thought that as well (No Glasspacks) but my local car shop (USA Motorsports) Confirmed that it does in fact have Glasspacks and that through my description that it could be goin bad. I was just wondering if anybody else has some SLP loudmouths. This starting happening when I was driving down the Highway and a truck tiedown strap flew under my car and I heard a thump.....I think It struck my muffler jarring something loose inside because everything under neath my car is still intact and undamaged.

I had the same problem when I had cats (one was bad), but since u dont, I think something is loose somewhere.

i dunno. its possible, but before you dump money into new mufflers, i'd go ahead and redo (not check or gloss over) all the connections you can from the heads to the tail pipe and make sure the ratteling is not a connection, or god forbid something IN your damn pipes. maybe slag from the welding broke off when it got hot enough and is now rattling around the mufflers.... hell, remove the catback and shake it. no noise? lookse elsewhere.

Also, before you throw money at it, check to make sure your catalytic converter heat shields aren't loose. I've seen this happen on a lot of cars. Also check to make sure your exhaust isn't touching your frame/undercarriage anywhere. That will cause a loud annoying rattle too. (speaking from experience.)
FYI- checking these things with the car idling is MUCH easier and quicker.

You can look straight through a glasspack aswell, but they have packing in them.

SLP's are like ultra expensive glasspacks IMO.

Plus, having no packing and a pipe with a tube would be no louder than having no mufflers... I dont have any mufflers and my car doesnt sound anything like a GT with loudmouths.

If they really dont have packing and really just pipe with a tube around, that would make them a huge ripoff price wise. lol.

Also, I know regular glasspacks dont rattle. They just get louder as the packing blows out, causing it to change sound. If the Loudmouths are similar or the same, there shouldnt be anything to rattle inside of them..:nice:

there shouldnt be anything wrong with his catback

tighten up the studs, ones prob loos or one was forgotten about.

it might be something else, theres noone else on this site who has an SLP LM1 that has a supposed "bad glasspack". keep looking..u sure it isnt the engine?
