Yea, pop the cap off the distributor and give the engine a spin
That would be kinda crazy though.

The fact that it sounds different now has me wondering if he sheared the dowel pin off the cam or something crazy like that
Dont you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!!!
In all seriousness, I just adjusted the rockers by manually rotating the engine. Distributor and all rockers move correctly by turning the crank with a long handled ratchet.

Stubby bob from road kill broke the cam bolts right off but that was a blown big block. Typical road kill fashon, they live to break crap.

My car wasnt exactly doing wheelies before I parked it last, lol.
Video?
Couldnt ever get my start up vid to post here. I'll have to learn how to upload to youtube. Tried that once before and failed as well. Im not exactly tech savvy if you cant tell.

Remind me again how you confirmed you don't have spark at the plugs? Pulled a plug and layed on engine and didn't see it when you cranked?
Have you confirmed fuel pressure?
Have you confirmed fuel pressure?
In all honesty guys I never meant for this thread to get this long. I appreciate all the suggestions. I just need to get the time to take the upper off and inspect everything I touched when I adjusted the rockers. It has to be something simple. Things dont just burn out when sitting still. I have to have to smashed or cut wire in the injector harness or something.

Pulled the coil wire off the distributor and had my wife crank it over while holding it close to the distributor post its supposed to connect to.

I'm not sure that method will work. It may not want to bridge the gap. It might...... I got zapped pretty good pulling live plug wires off while sparking...i won;t do that again
Need to pull a plug. (or find a spare) and lay it across a good grounded area on the engine and crank. You're method may have worked...but this would definitely confirm
Roger that. I'll pull a plug.
PS, Im gonna be pissed when I have a spark, however I feel pretty confident that I dont.

Are you sure the rocker adjustment was correct ???
The faster sound you mention sounds like they may be too tight and hanging the valves open a little. Did you do the push rod spin check and then the 3/4 turn ? What rockers do you have ? Pedestal or stud mount ?

Are you waiting for nightfall?
Would a quick compression test tell you if valves are hanging open?
Yep
Havent had time to do anything. Wife and three kids, boy scouts, basketball practice, dinners, baths, house chores... Good thing its winter in Iowa and I wouldnt be driving it anyway.

Well I can just check THAT off my list for tonight then

Went around hand rotating the engine, spinning pushrods, found zero lash and then went 1/2 turn. I feel pretty good about the rocker adjustment, honestly. Initially I had just not rotated the engine several times, and did not get them all snugged up.
But.....What,...about,.....the,.....spark?Went around hand rotating the engine, spinning pushrods, found zero lash and then went 1/2 turn. I feel pretty good about the rocker adjustment, honestly. Initially I had just not rotated the engine several times, and did not get them all snugged up.

Im keeping this thread like a suspensful movie.... Arent you on the edge of your seat???
I may actually get time tonight to try some of these suggestions, so long as the wife can handle all three rug rats for a bit.
