Yea, pop the cap off the distributor and give the engine a spin
That would be kinda crazy though.
That would be kinda crazy though.
The fact that it sounds different now has me wondering if he sheared the dowel pin off the cam or something crazy like that
Stubby bob from road kill broke the cam bolts right off but that was a blown big block. Typical road kill fashon, they live to break crap.
Video?
Ah, ok good.Dont you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!!!
In all seriousness, I just adjusted the rockers by manually rotating the engine. Distributor and all rockers move correctly by turning the crank with a long handled ratchet.
Remind me again how you confirmed you don't have spark at the plugs? Pulled a plug and layed on engine and didn't see it when you cranked?
Have you confirmed fuel pressure?
Pulled the coil wire off the distributor and had my wife crank it over while holding it close to the distributor post its supposed to connect to.
Roger that. I'll pull a plug.
PS, Im gonna be pissed when I have a spark, however I feel pretty confident that I dont.

Would a quick compression test tell you if valves are hanging open?
Havent had time to do anything. Wife and three kids, boy scouts, basketball practice, dinners, baths, house chores... Good thing its winter in Iowa and I wouldnt be driving it anyway.

Are you sure the rocker adjustment was correct ???
The faster sound you mention sounds like they may be too tight and hanging the valves open a little. Did you do the push rod spin check and then the 3/4 turn ? What rockers do you have ? Pedestal or stud mount ?
But.....What,...about,.....the,.....spark?Went around hand rotating the engine, spinning pushrods, found zero lash and then went 1/2 turn. I feel pretty good about the rocker adjustment, honestly. Initially I had just not rotated the engine several times, and did not get them all snugged up.

But.....What,...about,.....the,.....spark?![]()
