What years are the better heads? 97.5 and up?

i know there are gt40's and gt40p's right?

are the p's better?

Which heads need the special exhuast to mount up?

Also what year intake's too? should i be searching for uppers and lowers?

i remember hearing explorer upper and cobra lower

i have the trickflow stuff so this info is for a friend

thanks guys

I really hope this doesnt turn into another 15 page battle between non-p enthusiasts vs. p enthusiasts.

Do a search. I did my entire p head swap and only posted 2 or 3 threads asking way more technical info than this. The basic info youre looking for is all in the search threads.

Gt40s require no exahust change
ps require p specific headers
explorer intakes are gt40 intakes
p heads bump compression .5 and have a smaller combustion chamber I believe.

If you want more info do a search. It's all bee. Asked a thousand times

let me clue you in if you are considering gt40 upgrades.....dont! other top end kits/combos will yield more power. i wish i did some afr's and a better intake my self, but all my motor mod money is spent and although my gt40 combo pulls ok, my car is not fast by todays standards.....i am guessing here but i would hope that my car can hang with /beat any "stock gt" including the new ones, but after a couple mods from a 99+ gt idk if my car would even contend......i would not do gt40 setup again, if i ever do a motor upgrade...

do you have any track times? or dyno numbers?

i just read on the corral link above that some guy pulled a 12.04 on p heads/intake and stock ho cam

i plan on building a 347, but all my friends are telling me that it'll rip my convertable to threads. so i don't know

If you are going to do a 347 I would not opt for the gt40s. Just not enough head for the displacement.

They are decent heads if you can get them at a good price.

Just keep in mind that with the P heads you need to factor in swapping out the valve springs. The explorer springs won't handle even an HO cam.

sorry, i didn't clarify that correctly.

The info on the gt40 heads is for my friend and i told him to get the gt40p heads and swap out cam and springs for best performance.

i have the whole tfs top end on my car at the moment.

but i plan on building a nice 347, and going with some afr 185's or some trickflow fast as cast heads, but everyone says don't do it due to the fact that i have a vert and would twist like a mofo.
