Engines Out Photo Progress Thread.....

CarRamRod, that looks great, nice job on that, do you have a shot of the engine in the bay after its all said and done??

Yea, most of my stuff will be chrome, I will get the chrome strut tower brace to top it off, i am gonna get the strut bolt chrome covers, and as many chrome peices as I can (radiator support cover) but first is getting the engine in. Right now, everything i'm gonna do to the engine bay is done, and when I get the engine in, i see what needs to be more chrome, and i'll add chrome assecories as needed. I saw almost stocks car, holy shhit, i couln't beleive all the chrome, masonozz, i'll have to check yours out as soon as i post this... thanks

PaulPerecca, here you are:

Bad pic as far as lighting goes, but you get the picture.

Another shot:

Chrome add-ons are nice, but if you haven't polished or chromed the remaining metals to go with it, it doesn't really get to the same wow level.

you should be in 5.0 magazine..... seriously - thats way cleaner than some I've seen in there, i guess they have a list as long as a quarter mile of ppl that wanna feature in their mag... but u should send in photos - all the holes in ur bay are smoothed out - that deserves recognition....

Haha... Keep your eyes peeled in the next couple months :)

ALMOST STOCK was my inspiration & mentor in polishing, wire hiding and making me finally do the welding I'd always wanted to do :)

Paul thanks for the complement, but it's not all chrome, 85% of what you see is polished aluminum which I did and not chrome.

This may give you an idea of what my car is all about, but you need to remember it’s never been a show and probably never will be because I feel there are still way to many flaws and not show quality in my opinion.

I started by pulling the motor and welding things up

I painted the engine bay myself

and then I did the motor.

2 yrs later I had someone else paint the engine bay and the exterior

I re-polished the motor

And now the engine bay looks like this.

And in my opinion it's still no where show quality.

Dave,
Thanks Bud!

You and I've talked longer than anyone else, and it's all about helping if you can.

Hey now come on guys...your gonna give the youngin all your bad habits. Now Paul..Almost stock (Paul) and Dave have amaizing cars..NO DOUBT at all..I include my buddy Tim (stang22), these are just wonderfull cars IMO. HOWEVER I must note that having a damn wire or two showing is not the end of the world :p , and not every piece (though should be clean) does not need to be polished. For me I like a little bit of color and bling...clean is first and foremost, but every bay needs character to separate it from all others..that's what you need to give the car, it's more than just shiney parts if that makes sense.

all it takes is time. I didn't want to weld & paint but Paul talked me into it saying it was easy and just took time and know-how. So I pulled the engine and had some other friends handle the re-build while I did the body work & paint w/another friend. Couldn't have been EASIER. Lots of hours into it, and countless polishing and stuff, but it was all simple.

yea, you's won't be impressed w/ mine when its done, but you can let me know, cuz i'll be posting pics - wont be for at least another month now though thats the problem. I polished the belt tensioner (i think that's what it is, don't know if it even moves though) i sanded it w/ wet 400, than 600, than 1000, than 2000, than buffed it w/ a handy small area's buffer (its like 4 inches at its longest spot) and it turned out beautiful, so i did the metal on the stock power steering pump also, and that turned out nice, i'll be doing EVERYTHING lol

damn seeing those pics makes me want to paint my engine body color and dress it up
go for it!

I just took the alternator off, and the bracket that hold the tensioner and the smog pump.. Chucking the smog pump off the building... I sand blasted the whole bracket Excluding the belt tensioner, and I taped off teh belt tensioner (cuz i couldn't get it off) and primed the bracket..... Geting ready to scuff it and paint it (painting the front brackets (cuz i can't afford chrome) the beige of the bottom of my car, (two tone) so it will be light, and than I'll polish the belt tensioner again, and touch it up (centers) w/ black and a touch up brush... should look VERY nice... Next (i think tommorow) is some more brackets lol

Paul Perreca (I'll tryto get pics soon)

What difference does it make? Get a life dude. :OT: :bs:

Hey douschebag it makes a difference to some individuals because half the time people who show off 'their workings' have mommy and daddy or the good ol ball and chain backin them up. So off my nuts and kiss my ass.

Oh yea, and please, no more silly comments, this is supposed to be a strictly photos and questions thread about the engine build process, because you guys have helped me so much, I want to help anyone i can by posting EXACTLY what it takes to pull and rebuild (w/ new block of course) an engine w/ a standard H/C/I combo, because I am lucky enough to be able to do this kind of work on the weekends, i suppose the thread will go onwards of 3-4-5 pages i dont know, because i'll be taking pictures as I go, and there is quite a few more steps, so any serious questions you are more than welcome to the parade. Even daggar lol

Paul Perreca

AS per the silly comments -- less you are an admin man -- blow me... I've been around the forums under multipel aliases for years if you want to roll up on me just because I asked a simple question then you can kiss my lilly white ass.

Whos that pasty kid on the first page sitting in the engine bay? You need some sun dude. Btw car looks awesome and will be better when all is said and done... Rock On - Dave
