Ford Wheels

The widest wheels Ford offered were the 17x9 1995 Cobra R, 18x9 2000 Cobra R, and the 17x9 2003-2004 Cobra's. Just search through here and look for pics, plenty of people have them. But if you don't want to search...here's one of 04 Cobra's with 275/40s on my '95 GT.

If you really want to "fill out the wheel well", you can move up to 17x10.5 on the rear. On my wife's car I used FRPP 17x8 Black Bullitts on the front with 255/40's and www.americanmuscle.com 17x10.5's with 315/35's on the back.

My only concern with the non-oem wheels is the quality.

Ford doesn't actually make their wheels. It's all done by contractors and I'd be willing to bet that they're made in the same factory. The paint and the polished areas are an exact match and the Ford center caps fit perfectly.

AFS definitely did not make the original wheels for Ford. But as another person mentioned, the making of the wheels is contracted out by Ford. OEM wheels are made to meet very strict safety standards and to last the lifetime of a car.

I believe AFS supplied the original 95 Cobra R wheels.
Now the offer them in 17x8, 17x9, and 17x10.5 chromed, polished, silver or white.

Are you using spacers?

I think I have decided to get the 03 Cobra's in Machined finish since I prefer the look a little bit over the 95 R. I would go with the 2000 Cobra R's but I already have a pair of 17 inch drag radials and I am trying to do something cheap that can hold me over till the day (long way off) I can afford some nice forged aftermarket wheels like Fikse or HRE. I will be running 275/40 nitto's out back and 255/45 firestone firehawks in the front.
