heres what i want to do. I want get a 347 stroker kit, a h/c/i package and call it a day. im thinking about the edlebrock kit, where do they sell that kit at? aalso about how much would the hci cost me? any other tips and suggestions before i do this. im planning on getting the stroker kit off ebay, they usualy have them for about 1000 bucks, so that leaves 2500 for everything else.

Other costs...

Don't forget that you will have about $1000 to $1200 in machine shop costs to get your $1000 347 kit in.

I would go with a 351 and call it a day since you are planning to swap intakes. There is a good 351 Lightning motor in EHay for $500 bucks right now...

I don't know.... but I thought that a 3.400" stroke would net a 347 with a .040 overbore. They say .030 overbore. Maybe I'm wrong...... again.

331 and 347 both are stroked 306 which is .03 over the stock 302

and i would also reccomend get a 351. its just a better block to start with and you can put many 5.0 parts on them. all but headers and internals?

3.40 stroke with a .060 overbore would net you 352CI. With a .040 overbore is 348. That's using the NHRA formula for calculating displacement (bore x bore x stroke x .7854 x the number of cylinders).

I did my H/C/I and now I'm saving for 351 for when I grenade the shortblock
(and hopefully dont take the heads with it), but as long as you get it balanced from the people your buying it from the block work wont cost a grand in fact if you do some searching on what you have to do to clearance the block for a stroker you might be able to to do most of it yourself. Although that is a lot of time and money to put into a timebomb if you start playing with the bottle once you get it done.

If I was considering a 347 ...................
Here are a few things I'd think about.

Whats the price difference between having my current block set up for the stroker kit and a built 347 short block.

Typical 5.0 parts are too small for a 347 so know that up front and some of those parts most likely will cost more.

I.00 to 1.2 rwhp per cubic inch is possible for a 347 street motor that is not too radical so your drivetrain needs to be up to that task.

Your gonna need a custom tune.

I'm not tryin to pee pee in your corn flakes or anything like that but you may find that your 3500 won't go as far as you first might think.

I myself have thought about a 347 many times.

Is $3500 all you have to spend? If so I think you'll be coming up a little short for a 347 kit and h/c/i. I spent over $6000 for my engine including machine costs and short block assembly. Granted I replaced everything from the piston to water pump and almost every sensor, but I really don't think $3500 is gonna make it. And make sure if you get a kit from eBay, it includes all name brand parts. And stay away from a company called Dyno Flo. Good luck.

H/C/I

or

BLOWER

You'll have fun with either one :D ...... I'd do one or the other :nice:

If you try to do both ...... you'll need LOTS of $$$ :bang:

and might end up splitting the block, lol :nono:

On a more serious note: IF we're talking about a dd ... I'd go the NA route.
