how much hp can you get out of this?

in the 69-70 seasons of trans-am racing the boss race cars were making an excess of 500hp with 5.0 liters of displacement. mind you that was with ford oem parts worked to all hell and back and they were running holley 1050 dominator carbs. and yes i did say carbS. with modern technology and the right matched parts i think anywhere from 500-600 hp at the crank, but would have so little torque it would be pointless.
is it common for people to take their stock blocks and freshen them up .0300" and stroke them to 347's and give them a H/C/I or is that 10 pounds of $hit in a 5 pound bucket?
does it need to be a 347, or can i still get there with a 331? why do people make smaller engines. like the guy in the military that had the green hatch 331 with twin turbos, he changed his name a few times. why do people like that go with smaller engines for forced induction?

Check this link for a 600hp 302, built by Total Engine Airflow. It revs over 8k and is 12.5:1 compression.

Also, there used to be a member on here, NoSlo90, with a 375rwhp 302 on pump gas. Do a search. His combo was a stock bore 302, with twisted wedge pistons, Anderson cam, Ported TFS heads,90mm TB, and maybe an edelbrock intake. Peak power was under the stock rev limiter. Awesome combo.

How are the cylinder walls of a 347 thinner? They are exactly the same as a 306. Its just .030 over
Irreguardless of wall strength and other arguments some people don't think the 347 is as strong because it has been stroked out about as far as you can go and there are clearance problems to worry about etc. Also some people just like a motor with a shorter stroke especially if they are going to run them at high RPM's. If there was one perfect way to build an engine then we wouldn't have so many variations on a theme, each setup has it pro's and con's pick your poison and build it. If you want to build a 302 or 306 you can build one that is 400 hp streetable or blown nitrous injected 1000+ hp insane. Just a matter of how deep your pockets are.
