How to beat a 350Z

Well lets take into consideration that a well-equipped Z will into 30k if you're buying new as compared to our cars which even when they were new, would still be well under like 27 grand.

And the Nissan VQ (the 3.5) only runs on premium...

Yup and even now a used Z is still around 20-25k. I bought my stang for 14k back in 05 with 30,000 miles on her (have 60,000 now). Heck you spend 4k on a blower; tune and you can kill almost anything. Total coast 18K for the stang.

They are quick but arent meant for the drag strip.

Our Stangs suck though, come on. 4.6L to = 260 crank hp.

3.5L to = 306hp... wtf.

To be honest those Z's have a sexy exhaust note bone stock for what they are.

They also have 4 valves per cylinder and high compression and you have to run premium gas stock. They are already getting the **** worked out of them stock.

Your 2v 4.6 has more potentail it's just not getting worked as hard as the 3.5 Nissian. Our 4.6 makes it's hp by 5450 rpms and the 3.5 nissian has to rev to 6700.

Also the new 2007 350z should only be compared to the 3v. The older 350z's made 287hp. 300 to 306 4.6 3v and the new nissian 350z. Again same thing applys it's already getting worked hard the 3v ford it hardly working yet.

Make your engine high compression add 2 valves per cylinder and rev it to 7000rpm. Oh wait! ford did, its called a Cobra.

Plus it's hard to run any boost to the 350 because of its high compression engine unless you rebuild.

yea i got my car new at the end of 04 for 20k put about 2500 into her and she will run 12s with a better launch lol. I have run a few Zs too one at the strip and i tell u what he could not get out of the 10s in the 1/8th i laughed cause he challenged me. he also had exhaust and intake work.

my only mods at the time was a catback and intake and would run 9.3s on my crap launch lol so moral of that story dont challenge anyone unless u can drive and he messed up.

Never ran one on the street...that I recal. But I do remeber running one at the track..killed em. But I think i was running 13.0s @ 107-108. I must say though, I have to give them respect for getting that much power out of 6 cyclinders :nice: . And yea they do sound nice...unique sound like the 2JZ, or whatever came in the 93-98 supra.
Im curious how much power they will be able to squeeze out of that engine before increasing displacement.

350z's are just as heavy as our cars and have a v-6 with quite a bit less torque. My hp numbers are on par with '07 350z's and I haven't lost to a stock one yet. I best kill was when a dealership salesman was taking this hot chick for a test drive (trying to sell her the car) and kept toying around with me and looking over grinning (as if I were some slow POS :) ) The look on his face when I raped him was priceless. Then I winked at the hot chick at the next light and he drove it back to the dealership. Those things aren't too bad once they get going, but just about any stock GT will trash them off the line.

There is a huge difference in the way the VQ35HR engine behaves throughout the rpm range at 30 miles vs. 5-10,000 miles. Trust me, My buddy just bought a g35 sedan like mine and he thought somthing was wrong with his car when I flew past him when we both went WOT. When he went for a ride in mine, he agreed mine was noticably faster with 10,000 miles vs. his 1000(and it's way better then it was at 5k.). The 07 350 z's are trapping 13.2-13.4's once they get a few miles on them.

No offence to you but I call :bs: on that. I recently read a review on the new G37 coupe with 330hp and they got it to run 14.2. Now I'm sure it is a little heavier than a Z but not to the tune of 1 sec.

I'm at the track more often than I'd like to admit and have seen MANY 350Z's in the past 4 years, not ONE has come even close to 13.2. My best friends 03 has pretty much every bolton including headers and to this day he has trouble breaking into the 13's. A 14 flat is about what it runs on a perfect run.

13.2-13.4, I don't buy it for any year Z.

yeah, the poor engine is tapped out from factory. Many import magazines only recommend cat-backs for them if you want the sound and to lose some weight cuz they actually gained 1 hp and lost 6tq.
