injector size?

Im getting all the parts together for my HCI swap (Twisted Wedge heads, street heat intake, stage 1 or 2 cam) and I have a deal set for 30lb injectors and matching MAF. I know they may be slight overkill, but my question is if it will be hurt performance being too big?

No. I ran a very similar setup with 30# injectors, and they were no problem.

I think it will be harder to get a nice tune. 24 lb injectors would fit that setup better than 30 lbs.

Now I am thoroughly more confused. I do realize that it is larger than ideal, my main question is if it will cause problems with driveabilty and/or performance.

I don't know if they will be too much and cause an issue but 24's would be way better. I would think if the injectors are too big that the fuel pressure would have to be turned down so much that it would cause a less than desireable spray pattern at the injector which would hurt performance not help it. My .02.............

It will run fine with the 30's.

A friend of mine ran his N/A 331 with 42's and it ran just fine.

as long as your maf matches than it knows how big your injectors are so it shouldn't matter. with that said will you be doing anything else in the future other than this HCI?? if not 24's would be fine but if you want 30's go for it

note im on 19's... need 24's but 19 flow up to 320hp so im happy for now

I'm putting a Ford Racing 345hp crate motor in. Ford Racing reccomended 30# injectors in case I wanted to add more power down the line. I have a C&L MAF meter. They told me to go with 24# injectors because the 30# would make my lower end not run as well and the 30# may even decrease performance. 24's will handle up to 384hp. 30's 480hp I'd really like to know what to run on this motor. Does the computer need to be retuned because I have 19# injectors on my stock motor?

If you go with 24's, when you get to the next step on the car, you will have to buy injectors AGAIN. That's why you should buy bigger injectors in the first place. If your mass air meter is calibrated to the injectors, they should work fine, but with any of the H/C/I combinations, a dyno chip tune would be a good idea, and a competent tuner can make the car run very well with big injectors.

Having said all of that, I am not the biggest fan of the C&L MAF setup. In my experience, these meters get less stable as the injector size increases, and especially when used with a supercharger. If it doesn't run right with big injectors, and you are using one of these meters, try a different brand and I bet it will clean up.

Thanks for all the input. I have 30#'ers on the way with a C&L 76 MM Maf. I guess we'll see how it all works....BTW, I do have plans somewhere down the road for spray or a blower.

If you get nitrous or a supercharger you would have to upgrade anyways.

I have 30lbers on my h/c/i car and they are a bit big. The car drives fine, besides a rich smell and some bucking at low rpms. Sometimes it used to cause slow starts, due to too much cranking fuel.

24's would be better, but it depends on how good of a deal you get on the 30's.

24's if you can't get the car tuned, and 30's if you can get the car tuned.
