KYB GR-2s

I can get a good deal on them off E-Bay, anyone suggest/recommend (or not) them? Also, I know some of you have Ford Racing C-springs so could those of you with them post before and after pictures with them on. I figure I'll put them in while I'm addressing that area.

Then maybe I'll start looking for a motor.

EDIT: And are there any odds and ends I'm going to need when I replace them? And how much of a pain in the @$$ will it be to do the rears? Cause the top isn't right in the open like the fronts are in the engine bay.

The fronts are struts. I did not do mine because it takes a special tool to compress them and also you will have to have the front end alligned afterward.

The rear top mount can be found underneath those plastic circles on each side of the rear hatch area. I did my 92's, but on my 93 the torx head bolt on bottom just wouldn't budge. I took it to my shop and he used a pipe wrench to get it loose. Duh that was way too simple.

I have the KYB'S and they are a good replacement, but not performance or anything expensive. They use to offer a free hat if you go to their website and then send in proof of purchase.

I thought the fronts might need a special tool ... what is it? How much? (I'll check AutoZone too.) I'm not looking for anything performance-oriented, just something to take the feeling of being on a roller coaster away!
EDIT: My mechanic is 2 miles from my house, do you think my car would make that drive to get aligned after I get the struts in?

You really don't need a spring compressor. I have done mulitple spring install on mustangs, And never used a compressor. Struts just make sure the a-arm is supported, remove the top strut nut, remove the 2 bolts that attatch it to the spindle, and out it comes.

Changing front struts is easy as pie...

Springs are slightly more difficult, but still easily done by the home mechanic.

As for the GR-2s: I disagree with them NOT being a performance strut. I've been running them on my 95 GT for two years now and am very pleased with them. They definitely stiffened up the front end and car felt flatter while cornering after the installation.

Yes and no...

Yes, if you care about having a PERFECT alignment (ie, you autocross).

If not, no.

the gr2's are KYB's standard stock replacement shocks, so the only performance gain you will see is the stiffer feeling over the worn out factory ones. Im not saying they are bad, im just saying dont get ripped on price for these cause they are just standard stock replacement pieces. and changing out the shocks/springs is a piece of cake...mast problems you will run into comes from rusted bolts and ****.

Looking through some ads in MM & FF, a lot of places sell 6 piece KYB kits, fron struts, rear shocks and quad shocks ... what the $h!+ are quad shocks?

They came on the 5.0 to help prevent wheel hop, look in the pic below its the small shock that goes from the body to the rear axle

And they weren't on the 2.3's, correct? Therefore, I don't need them.
