Lightning Mass Air best Choice?

I am going to be putting on the Vortech SQ Trim as in my signature running about 10lbs of boost. I talked to one of the performance shops and they told me I should go with the 90mm Lightning Mass Air instead of the 80mm one I was going to go with. Is the Lightning Mass Air have any benefits and which Mass air would you guys run? Thanks

my friend with a vortech 4.6DOHC uses a lightning maf, its nice because its already calibrated for 42lb injectors, i dont see why it wouldn't be a good idea on a 5.0L, still forced induction,heh

Im not sure, but i belive its NOT calibrated for 42 lb injectors. atleast the way the stang computer needs it to be. Just like a cobra MAF is technically calbirated for 19# injectors on a gt.

I am using a 90mm Lightning on my 94 Cobra with a Vortech.

they are cal'd for 42#, but the plugs won't match you will have to buy a plug kit to adapt it.......

u mean the FMS lightning injectors specifically are different?....im sure other companies make ones that fit, he never stated which injectors he plans on using

no noth the injectors the plug on the maf..... it has 4 prongs versus our cars three.......

Usually when you talk about oem mafs, there is no kind of cal like you find with ProM mafs.

The pcm knows what size inj's the motor has installed in it and it knows the real air flow that is passing past the meter in this instance.

Just like the 94-95 GT & Cobra. They use the same maf which is not caled. It is all done in the pcm, although it is done differently in each pcm.

If you try to use the lightning maf and 42's on our cars like say a GT, it will not work without a custom tune of some kind.

btw...the lightning maf is a very accurate maf but again, you can't run it in cheat mode like you could a ProM.

Anf fyi the tweecer software has the 90mm maf tables with it. But I have heard that it is mis marked the 90mm is listed as the 80mmlmaf and the 80mm is the 90mm.

You guys really do make too much of a big deal about all of this tuning stuff

I keep tryin to tell ya ...... if you just fool around with it some, it kinda sorta starts to make some sense
