Megasquirt - build your own EFI system.

Hey 70,
No offence but I am not sure that you are “entirely” correct in your thoughts regarding the MS II Vs the ultramegasquirt. Eventually there will be a UMS but it will most likely be an entirely different animal from what has been planned in the past.

I believe the UMS will be more of a bunch of modules all interconnected via the CAN bus in the MS II.

Another words the MS II will be an expendable platform that will eventually culminate in the UMS.

A good thread on this is located here:

For what it is worth I think waiting the extra week for the MS II is well worth it as the UMS will most likely not be out for quite a while. But you know about opinions and what they are like ;-)

Cheers,

Just built a version 3.0 board this week. It took me about 5 hrs to complete. Pretty simple if you have a little knowledge about soldering and take your time. I recommend only running the MS 1 for right now ( you can update to MS II at a later time with little hassle) because MS II is in its infancy and you can do a lot more right now with the megasquirt n spark extra code. I also highly recommend just to buy a kit from a vendor like DIYAutoTune (where I bought mine from). its only like 10-15 dollars more but everything is separated and labeled and saves ALOT of time. I plan on just running a 5.0 efi setup on my 289 for right now because I just want a project so that I can play with the megasquirt. :D
