Met Civic on the way home:

His eclipse is not mint by any means but it will smoke my car i'm sure I have never raced him but don't really want to but if I meet up with him and we are in the right conditions I will giv my all and see what chance I stand against an AWD GSM running 25 psi. Well soon as he changes his head gasket lol I told him that's alot of boost.

A base model Civic weighs in around 2100lbs, depending on the year. Don't feel ashamed..someone will always be faster.

BTW, I lost to a CRX with a B18C with intake & full exhaust...bad. He ran 12.95 with the car that way, and he probably had less money into it than I had in my car.

whoa fellows.. i didnt mean to start an arguement.. i know those cars are fast.. the turbo cars are anyway.. im not ignorant when it comes to knowing a turbo 4 banger is fast.. as well as the AWD cars.. hell i almost bought a bad little GSX w/ all kindsa crap.. was like 375 horse and you could go alot farther with it.. what i was just saying is for the money the best cheap go fast car is a 5.0.. hell i only have about 1800 in go fast parts and i can just crush alot of the turbo cars.. i have thumpers... no aftermarket heads.. anyway.. you can buy a bigger turbo, change the BOV, and up the boost.. throw exhaust and do some other little things and get alot of performance out of them.. BUT.. its just like my pa's taught me.. you have to build a good foundation.. and if i recall those AWD talons and GSX's AWD are tough but not that tough.. basically if I bought my car.. a friend bought some GSX or talon.. and we both spent 1800 on our car.. who would win? for the price the mustang would.. turbo's cost you out the ass.. and he'd have to up boost and make more power to take me.. therefore not changing out the weaker components which could fail and come back and bite ya in the ass

I was thinking the same thing earlier today. I had fun even though I was beat and it has put a new sense of purpose for me.

Exactly...

Anyway, I'm done defending imports here. Don't get the wrong impression- my intent is that you guys don't go out there thinking that your 5.0 can't be beat, act like a cocky dick, and then get smoked. It makes us all look stupid.

I'll always root for the Mustang. Some of you guys just need to get to know your enemy a little better.

I agree with you. I don't hate any kind of car....if its fast its fast, period. He beat me and that is the end of the story. I didn't stay up last night wanting to kill him. It was a good time. I also have to remember that right now my car is eighties fast. Meaning that in 1988 it was alot faster than it is now. Obviously the reason is that as time has passed, cars have been given more power in their factory stock condition. My MPV minivan has almost the same amount of hp as my mustang. This is life. That is why I need to mod.

Once again for good measure: Props to the guy in the civic :nice:

That's a real naive statement. You're the type that the local street racers love to take money from.

Yeah, it takes money to make anything fast...but it's pretty cheap and easy to make a DSM, 3000GT, WRX, EVO, or any of the factory turbo imports WAY faster than any stock GT Mustang.

Buddy of mine went 12.39 in a 94 GSX with what I believe was a stock motor and a bigger turbo/intercooler/injectors combo he scraped together for real cheap...another friend is expecting mid-12s this year from his STI with simple bolt-ons.

It takes alot of money, time, and effort to make a Civic fast...but all imports aren't Civics.

I agree with you on the GSX and DSM's but when the STI and EVO come into play, those cars alone are 25-30 grand so with that 25 grand you could have a WICKED fast 5.0
EDIT: sorry just saw the post above that pointed this out

Careful now are we gonna have to start handing out the shovels...

Swarzkopf
no thats not me

Roofles!!

Give me a 89-93' stang for $1500-4000.00 and add a set of AFR or Trickflow heads, a Comp cam and good intake and some headers and set gears and I show you why the mustang is the go fast car for cheap.
Just take it to the next level after that and add a Vortech supercharger, I prefer the S-trim ;)

but the good thig is that we dont need any powersadders to make ours fast. almost every import running 12's-13's have nos, or a turbo.

give me a stock gt, stock bore, h/c/i, gears, clutch, bolt ons, slicks

then give me a stock civic do the same work basicly

which one u think would win:shrug:

Yea definately. I never seen im my lifetime a fast import without a power adder. Not sure if it exists, it might though. If they want to run good times they turn the boost up to 30 psi and hope for the best.

very true...just out of curiosity how come there arent any foxes running around with that kinda boost, the most i really see is like 18 but if the imports can make good power with a 4 cyl or 6 cyl we could make INSANE power with a v8! :flag:

well.. air volume needed to make 25psi on 1.8l is minute when comparing the air volume needed to make that with a 5.0l. So the size of the turbo would have to be fairly large.

On top of that, 25 psi on a 5.0 would be pusing 800+ hp easily with a turbo... actually much much more... that kind of HP would require a very expensive setup. IE dart block, expensive programmer, fuel set-up etc.

that amount of money would surpase even TT91.. lol he could probably have run that if he set it up for it.. he ran 16 if i recall.. the damn A4 block is insanely strong.. 1600hp

The imports you really need to look out for are mid 80's to early 90's turbos. Supras, 300zx(z31), Conquests, 323gtx, Rx-7 turbo II, etc. They are cheap, most have pretty tough motors that can take higher psi without much supporting mods. I had an 85 300zx turbo i bought for 1500. 165,000 miles and ran like new. Put on 3" straight exhaust, K&N filter, ROM burn. Less than $2000 in it total and put down 222 to the wheels with a bad clutch. Walked a few 5.0's and of course some early 4.6's that cost alot more than $2000. Beat the crap out of every civic I came across. :D Had terrible rear suspension, so stangs would beat me off the line but i could track em down. But i do like my 5.0 better. Sumthin bout that 5.0 i love.

2g's for 222 hp to the wheels  Yep, I really need to look out for those guys... :rlaugh:

its true that alot of imports can only run with power adder but sometimes you have to respect the knowldge of technology that allows them to extract large ammounts of power out of such a small engine, regardless of what power adder it has
