mostly stock....what timing?

well i just finished with a few upgrades on my newly aquired 94. BBK Cold Air Intake, Mac Longtubes, and a Maganflow X Pipe. and a fresh tune up. Now what should i set my timing to? i did 14 degress on my 91 when i had it and always thought i could use a little more. i guess the best way to go is put 91 octane in and start around 14 degrees check for pinging and go from their. i was going to try about 15 but have no dyno to see what makes more power. what do you guys reccomend?

i wouldnt go higher then 14*. you can go higher but without a dyno you dont know when more timing stops helping and when it starts hurting. hp will start to drop off before the engine pings

Remember that the 5N95 computer is load based, not RPM based. The 5N95's have some pretty good issues with pinging (too much timing and too little fuel - they were trying to clean up a dirty motor). A lot of guys ping at 10* as it is.

Now if you have a Cobra (J tune), then throw out what I said above (they dont have the ping issues that the GT's do).

mine is a Gt i didnt realize they had that issue like that. stock timing on my fox was 10 degrees right? correct me if im wrong. whats stock on my sn95? and is bumping timing not reccomended?
