And yet for some reason, i'm keeping my eye out for a Convertible to buy. No idea why....

We had a storm come through Albuquerque on Monday, left about 6-8 inches of snow and lingered about 2-3 days. Now, you would'nt have even now it snowed, its all gone. That snow even melted off the west face our mountains here in town, and they top out at about 10500 feet at the highest peak. I hate weather like that. Back to the mid 60's for the next week or so.

That same storm dumped a lot of ice and freezing rain on Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. A lot of power outages and downed trees with over .5" of ice in some places.

Yeah man, that was a hell of a storm. It broke records here. We probably had 10 cars get towed in here at the bodyshop.

Forunately it lost all it's energy. Amazing that what started as a tropical storm/Hurricane, is now dumping 4"+ on me in a very scenic way.

Do I let it melt, or bust out the big beast Snowblower?

Bust out the blower.
It's like it won't rain unless you leave a window down (that's how it works in Florida) so if you bust out the blower it will melt and you'll have a few days of good weather

It'll give you something to do, but I know of an engine bay that needs some reassembling.

I busted it out. I tried shoveling but it was heavy and wet.

this ended up being a legit storm. Originally forecast as a coating, we have 4-5” and still more coming down. Kids are out playing. I’m supposed to be working from home....

So i got in the garage for a bit. Started to square up the k member. Got my four plumb bobs hung. Marked the ground. Thought this was going easy.

Started to use a pair of tape measures, and as luck would have it my jack stands are in the way of the front to rear plumb bobs. No way around them as they have a solid base. I can’t really see where else to set them unless I put them ahead of the k member on the rail. At quick glace, I was able to get it deas on. I just can’t swing the tape measure in far enough to confirm this yet.

I need 3-4” of offset to get the tape on the marks to measure

You'll need to position the jack stands on the frame rails 10-12'' behind the core support,this will give you all the room you need to work.If you don't have tall enough jack stands you'll have to block them up higher to reach the rails.I believe MM shows this in their install instructions.

What kind of paint do you use for small parts....I use Rustoleum and it separates all the time.

i have a plate I test my paints on. Actually I have a few. I’ll try different “recipes” and then pour solvents on, chip them, scratch them, etc to see how they work.

Acetone first, then I hit bare steel with light coat of SEM self etch, then I use a primer (currently SEM high build). I scuff with 400-600 and hit with the top coat. Using duplicolor and rust oleum for my small parts.

Rustoleum professional on the plate on the right side. I think it holds up pretty well. Even resists acetone better, but it will yield to it. However the duplicolor (left side) seems to resist scratches more but it technically requires 7 days to cure so the rustoleum is faster to get done.

I have blacks and gray/alum for my small parts. I’ll likely paint the steering rack gray

I think that’s what I’ll too. I’ll have to put them on cinder blocks. Normally I wouldn’t do this, but with the front end stripped, car is pretty light so shouldn’t be an issue.

Ford stuck the hazard flasher on the backside of the fuse block in the 87-89 cars. Since I swapped to a 90 dash, been meaning to mount the fuse block correctly. So I bought the 90-93 mounting frame on eBay. I reversed the pins on the hazard rekay to flip it around to the correct side

also picked up a 91-93 fuse box cover. Fits right in with spare fuses too.

Wait! You can put spare fuses there? My life just improved by 20%.

dam I do not miss the snow back east. I do have to deal with hot as the sun summers but dam. It was 80 today and 82 tommarow, I'll wash the stang .maybe wax it too.

So back to squaring. Moved the stands around and got my clearance. Using 4 plumb bobs and 4 tape measures, it was pretty easy to get everything setup to measure. Didn’t take much tweaking and even with my sectioned frame rail and moving the k member holes back, I managed to get it all within 1/16”. Was almost too easy. Anyway, I member is torqued to spec 89 ft-lbs front, 72 ft-LBs rear bolts

wish I took the trans Jack out of this shot

decided to temporarily hang the a arms, mostly to get them out of my way. Discovered I couldn’t find the prothane grease to lube the bushings so the need to come out anyway. Just mocked up for now

started cleaning up the 03/04 cobra rack to get this mounted as well. I need shorter hardware anyway so I need to see what sizes I need

here’s where I stopped for today. Need to get the spindles temp mounted on here, and put the coil overs back in. I need to drill and run the new mounts for fuel and brake lines so I need to see where my interferences are. These all need to come back out before final install anyway, but nice to start reducing my piles of car parts scattered around.

Went and dug out my spindles

the MM k-member requires 96-04 spindles, so I’ll be swapping over from my 94-95. I have new hubs on those, so I need to pull all the hubs up, clean these all up, and paint the new spindles.

i also need to ream the tie rod hole for the MM bolt through Bumpsteer kit. That means I’ll likely toss the 94-95 spindles on now for mock-up, and swap them out when I do my final assembky.

Mocked up the steering rack. Broke out the MM aluminum rack bushings I’ve been sitting on.

I’ll need some new hardware. These are m12 bolts, but I need around 6” in lenght. I’m sure I could run these and the extra lenght would be ok, but I’ll just get new bolts
