FB makes an amazing AOD but $4k is pricry. Have you contacted Dan at Silverfox? I'm running one of his valve bodies and couldnt be happier.

Off the top of my head you will need

  • Swap pedals
  • AOD cross member
  • Flexplate and bolts
  • Trans cooler
  • cooler lines
  • TV cable
  • jumper the NSS switch from the clutch cable
  • A9P computer
  • AOD engine harness from same year for O2 sensors

My car was an original auto car so all that is there but is getting a fast Xfi 2.0 with data logger and traction control option this winter any way . Already have it just need to install it . No tv cable as it will be manual vb . I believe I still have my old auto pedals in the garage . Have a stifflers x member which I think covers t5 , TKO and aod .

I figured around 4K with all the upgrades like the TRANS brake , jw ultra Bell, and a converter . I want to be able to take this thing into a high 8 sec zone if that's where it ends up .

Does Dan do whole units like FB does ?

Other thing is FB is literally an hour ride for me if I need anything .

Friggin human nature, I got a built AOD and all I think about is dumping it for a manual, think long and hard man, I know first to second over and over gets old on that left leg but they get kinda boring without it...haha

I had one of these in my 79 with a manual valvebody c4 Jeff. It was fun, that car was a handful.. So the whole manual trans thing wasn't missed. Lol

My favorite auto shifter of all time. If I ever go back to auto, I'm getting another one.

Biggest thing is not that my car isn't manageable but it's still handful

Jeff in normal stop and go it would be 190 to 200 stop and go it would go over 200 I didnt have the cooling system you have tho..i was getting ready to re-do it so it would run cooler...i would have loved the car way better if it did not have a full manual VB i really didnt like it...Would have loved it with a simple auto and the option to go full manual when i wanted...

I just put a silverfox valve body in my AOD. It's good stuff! I have a complete 5 speed setup on my garage floor that I consider putting in from time to time but then I get stuck in traffic and that idea goes straight out the window. Automatics can be a lot of fun if built right.

I guess I'm a die-hard gear banger because I don't think I'll ever go to an auto even if I actually get my car into 700+ hp range. It's so much fun and I love the challenge of making a manual perform and be consistent like an auto.

You've been hanging around with @84Ttop too much, so I'm starting to think your definition of a "street car" is slightly skewed.

Tagged , insured , lights work , can make a 30 mile cruise in traffic and for me gets gas from any pump .

The rest is subject to the owner as to what creature comforts they like .
