New Dyno and 1/4 #'s

BTW- I'd stay FAR AWAY from used injectors unless you are sure they were in good working order and were just removed froma vehicle. If not, its more hassle than what its worth as I have seen a number of guys get bum injectors when buying used.

Ive seen #42's for $260 new since the previous post of being lucky to find used ones for $300

If the air flow/fuel needs (tb, maf, fuel pump, inj's, etc) of a combo are exceeded then that is a mechanical prob that a custom tune just can't help.

Another thing I've seen some of the power adder guys talk about is fuel pressure doesn't always mean everything is ok. A blown combo also needs an ample volume of fuel at the correct pressure to safely feed it.

I don't know, but do you think that 190 in the tank is enough? Might wanna do some research about that.

Thats what Im thinking now, if its more then just some minor tweeking that needs to be done in the upper RPM's then the tune is not going to do it b/c it wont compensate for a lack of fuel or a retarted C&L that dosent work worth crap on a blown car.

I can go to the dyno and get the tune for $400 but what happens when I decide to upgrade parts for more power like heads, then Ive spent $400 on a tune and then have to go and get bigger injectors anyway.

I have to start planning my purchases based on future mods and not how it runs at the time. I should have gone w/ 42's to start but I grabed these #30's off ebay for $130

after doing some thinking and reading these replys I think the best corse of action is to go w/ a PRO-M and get some #42's. Your right the 190 may not be enough but I'll worry about that later on since it did not show a drop in fuel pressure at the higher RPM's.

Minor or Major tweeking won't help you

You can't do that cause the 30's are too little

IMHO you are now thinking more wisely

Again I think the 190 MAY NOT be big enough to FEED the 42's when you put the hammer down. Pressure alone is not all that is needed.

If I was in your shoes, I would buy 42's, a calibrated MAF, a 255 in-tank pump and go get dyno tuned.

30's are waaay too small for a blown car at your power level. My 36's are just about maxed out for me.

I'm very surprised you are not running very lean as is.

Ok here is the deal.......

Im going to buy #42's and I have a dyno tune/chip burning session schduled for June 1st in Concord N.H at

http://www.performance-dyno.com/pages/1/index.htm

These guys are big time Stang guys and are a certified Superchips dealer/tuner.

Im keeping the C&L for the time being as much as I hate to but this is why. I can get a #42 sample tube for $35 VS $250 for a PRO-M Meter. The dyno tune and chip will cost $400 so Im going to do this on a budjet for now. They should be able to tune the car w/ a C&L on it w/ my combo they are good at what they do.

Good choice. :nice:

If your tuner is cool with the C&L then all is well.

Good luck! They'll probably be able to get a little more power out of it too!

Thats never a bad thing. If you go to there site and look under SCT HP Gains it shows graphs of before and after the chips. Usually a pretty good gain. Im not doing this for more power ( But I'll deff take it ) I just want it running right and running safe.

Glad the sample tube will work out ok with the C&L

Since your gonna pay a Pro to tune, why not get his opinion about that 190 pump

If you do, let us know what he had to say :D

Sure am glad you went with 42's I tried to get by with 30's and a tune and the hole thing went bang #8 cylinder and piston all over the place. :damnit:

When I see peeps post stuff like this, I can't see it any other way but........

its just more positive proof that you don't wanna have too little fuel to feed your combo......makes no difference whether its Forced or NA.

If you feel the 190 alone is not enough you also need to look at the size of the fuel line. The stock fuel line will not flow what the 255 pump can dish out. Our rails (94-95) can flow more than the stock 87-93 ones and should be ok (read prob. close when running over 10lbs of boost). Like others say the 190 is not going to cut it with boost and a good combo, maybe a inline pump can help a bit but again if issues arise after a pump of high volume is added the lines need to be looked at.

Just pointing that out as I didnt see that addressed and someone posted an issue with leaning out with a 255. I am not a charged or turbo user, so I am in no way saying I am all knowing, just from what I have seen others say about the fuel system on the 5.0's.

blksn955.o

I have been concerned about the 190 but for now its staying in. Ive spent so much money on the car this yr that after the dyno tune Im done for this yr. Also b/c I havent seen any need for a bigger pump yet. It was running lean in the upper RPM's but that was due to not big enough injectors. Someone kept and eye on the FP guage and at no time did the FP drop enough to indicate that the pump was not able to keep up. Unless otherwise discoverd the 190 is going to stay b/c the car is straing my bank accout this yr.
