I have watched a lot of the Engine Masters vids, they have tested a ton of headers, mufflers and pipes. The engines most times a above a average street car but they discuss it in everyday scenarios.

I was meaning to search and see if there were any Engine Masters that talked about headers. I have pretty much decided to go short tube headers but I'll check out Engine Masters. Do they talk about headers in the episode that you linked- Slant 6 Greatness?

No but they have a few episodes on mufflers with db levels, H and X pipes, and my personal favorite, header bashing,
Again they usually are using larger 450+ HP engines with carbs but some are more real world setups, search Engine Masters exhaust test and you should get a bunch, study the findings in the RPM range your engine is working in and you'll find the good, bad and the ugly, the header bashing episode is one of my favs.
It's not a "reality show" by todays standards, no wrench throw'n cussing, blow'd up messes, sad to see the show end.

I have heard Freiburger mention the header bashing test in an episode or two of Roadkill but I never watched the Engine Masters episode so I may have to check it out!

Yeah it sucks Engine Masters and the other Motor Trend car shows were cancelled. At least there is a YouTube for people like Freiburger, Dulcich, Tony Agelo, etc to have their own channels. I hope they are all able to survive and make a living on YouTube since we love their content and making car shows is what they like to do. YouTube is also great for Foxbody Mustang specific channels like Brew2L, Neo Mustangs, 5.0Tussin, etc. I could probably survive with just YouTube and not need my tv app.

Ok, I'll take a good look at the welds. Is the fire cone where all of the individual pipes meet near the collector?

It’s terminology that I picked up back in the day. The Mustangs use a ball and socket type connections on the exhaust. So the headers have the ball portion so you open that up.

I run MAC 1 5/8" full length headers, Mac H pipe with cats, flowmaster super 44 2 chamber and 3" tails...4.10 gears she purrrrrs going down the street till I get on it, or I can wake up the sound with my MAC off-road H pipe, and nothing beats the sound people think I have 500 Horsepower...lol

That is definitely a nice exhaust setup. I'm sure it does sound good. My other '88 exhaust is somewhat similar to yours- 1-5/8 longtubes, off-road h pipe, 2.5" Flowmasters 40 series. I would rather have your setup with the super 44s and 3" tail pipes but that is what was on it when I bought it.

I haven't made any posts lately because my 2nd '88 has been taken apart for paint. I took some pictures of it last night and thought I would post them up. My painter found a front bumper cover that is in better shape than mine so we are going to use it. I might remove the other bumper cover off of the car this weekend.

Same as it was from the factory- smoke poly upper, titanium lower, and blue tape stripe

Wouldn't you wait to do that until [after] all the pieces and parts were fit together?

Ha ha, no problem. It's a longer thread at this point and it's been a while since I was posting about the colors.

He said he wanted to let the primer dry really good out in the sun and then he is going to block it out.

I don't know the answer either but I'm thinking it doesn't matter. All of the parts that are off of the car- ground effects, front bumper cover, spoiler, etc I think will be painted while they are off of the car but I don't know that for certain at this point.

It was a complete car when I got it. My painter and I disassembled it to how it looks in the pictures. The last bits- quarter windows, door handles, etc will be coming off right before it gets painted.

A good idea, nothing worse than seeing sanding marks under the clear coat if the primer shrinks

Whats the cap on the oil fill port on the passenger side valve cover? I would also replace the PCV filter/valve as it could be gummed up from sitting so long.

Thats a breather cap. Not sure if it should be on there with the hose still connected to the throttle body though. Seems counterintuitive. Sweet car though.
