Chambered VS. Straight-through --- Dynomax Super Turbo ?s

Is a chambered muffler always going to be louder than a straight-through because of the sound being bounced around before it goes out, or is it the other way around?

Is the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler a chambered or straight-through?

BTW, getting Dynomat put in in the morning - going to see how that helps. Getting the whole trunk floor covered in it. I'm thinking I might still have to switch mufflers after that too though. Unless that stuff is a lot better than I'm expecting it to be!

most straight through muffs have a perforated steel tube surrounded by sound deadening material, so when at idle the sound is quieter than most chambered mufflers b/c some air and sound escapes through the holes in the tube and is absorbed by the insulation, but at wot the flow is faster and unaffected by the perforations passing the insulation with out much sound deadening, so at idle straight through mufflers are quieter at wot they are louder

Do a search for "exhaust drone is fixed". Follow the links to the Coral Group site/post and read about it. Don't listen to the BS thrown up by people who haven't tried it. I had a custom exhaust guy install the side branch resonators on my GT and it works!

The Super Turbo is a chambered muffler much similar to an oem muffler. Picture the muffler being split evenly in 3 sections lengthwise. The flow passes thru the length of the first 3rd in a perforated tube, then back thru the middle in another tube, then down the last 3rd in the last tube. It is the best flowing muffler of it's style. It flows as well as many welded case mufflers but is VERY quiet in comparison to most.

STOCK cat-back or DYNOMAX?

Stock cat back or Dynomax super turbos?

I'm thinking I would gain some torque if I put the stock cat back on, whereas with the Dynomax I would just gain the droneless ride I am looking for.

What do you guys thing? Stock cat back or Dynomax weld-ins (or cat back)?

Went with MAGNAFLOW!

I decided to go with Magnaflow guys! I just couldn't make myself get over that great sound that they have. Magnaflow sounds so different than all the other cat backs to me, and I love that purr!

So once a Magnaflow guy, always one I guess. I had them as weld-ins first, then I had the MAC (current system) and now I'm going back to the Magnaflows. I remember they were too quiet before, which is why I switched to MAC. So that should equal minimal inner drone, and plus with the catted X pipe, they should sound GOOOOOOD.

I got the Topline SS Magnaflow cat back from exhaustpower.com - I won't need the tips that come with it because I'll be using rolled SS tips. Plus I won't need my MAC system anymore either. Nor do I need my stock H pipe....

If anyone is interested in those things, let me know. I will cut a great deal on them. The MAC system has about 5,000 miles on it, so it is barely used. It is the newer system with the blackcoat finish and SS back/tips. PM me if you are interested.
