Saleen, Drive it or park it?

Guys, I've got a 99 S-281 with a factory supercharger. It has 20,800 miles on it. I plan on adding gears, headers, blower pulley etc. I want this thing to fly. Also it will get 3k-5k miles a year added to it the way my car situation is now. Will i get stones thrown at me for this? I look at it like a hemi car or something. Maybe you shouldn't modify it, and keep the miles under 1k per year. What do think?

Cars are meant to be driven, Have fun drive it often.
Couldnt have said it better myself. Drive the car, its a Saleen, not a Hemi. While collectable, Saleen has flooded the market with its cars and basically ruined the resale value. Well, thats how the Saleen guys feel anyway. By the way, got any pics...I love a Saleen. :D

Here's a couple pics. These are when the car was in Missouri. We picked it up a week ago. :D

Hmmmm what kind of hood is that and where can i get it? :D
Is that the factory Saleen hood? I thought they had louvers in the vents...guess not.

Looks Carbon Fiber, and the two tone paint on the hood looks nice.

Sentimental values aside...

Ford Mustangs, GM F-bodies & Y-bodies are cheap throw-away sports cars. They're like the Bic lighter of sports cars. I'm currently owning one, and have owned several, while I say this. But its fact. So don't hold a Saleen Mustang up too high against prestigeous and fine automobiles, cause they are only affordable, fun cars to drive.

Drive the heck out of it for a couple years, sell it to some 18-20 year old kid and go buy yourself a new one. ...Don't park it.

Welcome to the world of owning a Saleen!

The 99-04 S281-SC cars are great cars, and can be driven and enjoyed. As pointed out, they are not the most collectable of all the Saleens made, so there is no point in making it a garage queen, especially seeing how it has over 20k on the clock now.

My suggestion is to drive it, and enjoy it. I have about 35k miles on my '00 Speedster, and there are some who have many more miles of driving excitment on theirs.

You can even use a Saleen as a "daily drive" if you want, my '89 Saleen has 182,000 miles on it now :)

Again, welcome, and you should check out The Saleen Club of America :)
