I have an aod equiped 90 mustang GT. It has pulleys, air intake, tb, elec fan, headers, h-pipe, flowmaster catback and 4.10 gears. The aod is stock and the best i've gone is 14.73 at 94. Everyone is telling me i should be faster. is this true? and if so what can i do to pick up my lost time.

I agree, that aod is robbing you of nearly a full second. t5 conversions have proven to knock off nearly a full second from the time slip. if you're not willing to convert, build your aod correctly, and that will start bringing your times down.

2000xp8,
Ever had the Saleen Exploder on the track?
That things nice!
15.20 But that's with the 150lbs. of stereo equipment, and it's full time AWD (which in this case is not a good thing, for the track).

I went 14.2@98 with my aod with a shift kit, flows, pulleys 4:10 gears and cai... my 60' where about the same as yours, my car is a 92 gt. But i've seen a lot that run similar times to yours, just dependson th e car i guess.

Yes, you should be running faster.

I ran 14.8 @ 94MPH Bone stock with my LX AOD.

Now, i have the same mods as you pretty much (3.73's instead) and i'm running 14.0's @ 100MPH consistently without a shift kit or stall converter. That's a 6MPH difference between what I am running and what you are running now with the same mods basically. The Speed Density and LX thing might make up for a little of that

6mph is approx 60hp... the speed density/lx thing might make up for about 2-3mph but i doubt 6...have u gotten a tune up lately? Do you powerbrake off the line and use the 1d1 shuffle? spare tire removed?

what does speed density have to do with it? i just changed the oil, need to change plugs and check timing. yeah i powerbrake but not a whole lot. i seem to go faster when i let it shift itself. also any ideas on what to try for shift points?

14.8's are really good times, bone stock. Bone stock aod's were doing late 15's, to mid-early 15's at best, and that's gauranteed by seriously any mag of the time period, as well as backed up by any peoples with a stock aod stang. you've got some great times. I've heard of it, but you're a diamond in the rough.

doing the 1d1 shuffle is a sure fire way to blow your trans (nottoofast50) unless you're looking for a reason to replace that pos aod, leave the damn gear shifter alone. If you want to shift it yourself, you need a manual valve body. I'm deadly serious here too. DO NOT SHIFT THE AOD'S yourself while racing unless you've built it for that!
