So my new engine with less then 1500 miles on it may be ruined.

I was going to get an MSD for it, but I found so many negative reviews on their stuff that didn't want to risk buying junk. So much for that right? lol

I have had accell pro billet and 2 msd pro billets. None of them ever gave me any issues. I ran the pro billet MSD on my 347 in my 91 and I beat that car like I beat the panties off N8doggs wife.......... it never failed......

Yeah, from what I read it seems like a 50/50 shot on whether or not you get a good one.
 
Hmmm.... I think I see the problem. Probably shavings from fingers and wedding ring you left in there. O_o

Probably wouldn't hurt to try to vacuum it out. If you can get a vacuum hose to seal around that hole tight enough it might pull some out, then if you're lucky what's stuck in the oil will wash out if you flush it with oil a couple times.

Or you could do like that one guy did and run a water hose through it while it's running lol.
 
Performance Dist is a stand up company...

The key when swapping any dist is to check the distance from the bottom of the mating flange to the bottom of the dist gear...if that is off you may actually need to move and re-drill the gear or shim the mating surface to get proper engagement. This is one reason I try to use the actual dist my customer will use when building a motor. Once the front cover is on it is impossible to see, but that is a very important clearance! I use a little rear gear compound on the dist to check the mesh. This is also the time to make sure you have the proper clearance with the oil pump drive shaft and the dist. I have found MSD bottom out, it is not un common to have to grind a little off the dist to acheive proper clearance.

**MSD recommends a distance of 4.00" +/-0.005" from the bottom of the gear up to the bottom of the distributer where it fits in the block

I checked this one against my old distributor and it measured out the same with my digital calipers. I think the bushings seized on the shaft and spun in the housing.
