Ok, I was not too sure about this. His mechanic said that he could be around a 12.4 if he would take out the AOD and put in a 5 speed.

Would it really go from a 14.3 to a 12.4 with a 5-speed?

Unless the aode is completley trashed, it's not going to make that much of a difference. At with a decent stall, it shouldnt be that much of a hinderance at all. His trap speed is showing something is wrong.

24# injectors paired with a pro-m75 calibarated for 24# injectors, 155 or 190 lb/hr pump, FP set at 40 psi vac off. Set timing a 14-16 deg and run good gas. From there you can play with the FP and timing a bit using a stop watch and run from a roll 20mph to 60mph and see if you pick anything up. With his mods and a good AOD with shift kit and above add ons he will see mid 13's maybe a bit better, go to T-5 and I'll wager on 13.00 or maybe a tenth or two under.

This is EXACTLY the type of respone I was looking for, I am printing this baby off.

This brings up another question though, do you mechanically change something to boost up the FP or is that done through a tuner of some sort? Would a tuner be a good buy or are they useless for 5.0's?

(Sorry I do not know 5.0's very well)

Tuners are way too complicated for us average smoo's. Get yourself an Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a mechanical guage, both can be had for under 125$. AFPR mounts right inplace of the old regulator with just 3 small bolts and drops right in with a vac line that goes from the manifold that will now attach to the new adjustable reg(AFPR). With engine running pull the vac line from the Regulator to the manifold off of the manifold and read the fuel pressure gauge at idle, you can adjust it while the engine is running..try to start at 40 and look to work your way down. Higher pressure is not usually the answer. Cheaper than a tuner is get all your toys on and set up a dyno tune with a good company and they can burn you a chip for a decent price and you will make max use of a very good set up that now sits on the car.

Looks like he's gonna have to drop quite a bit more cash to really get moving.
