the Ranchero disaster & Brand X update

Putting parts and pieces together, fixed some of the tape that was falling off, yeah that was a disappointment, tossed that roll of junk into the neighbors back yard.

Intake, squirters, rail on permanently (I hope), heater hose tube with temp sensor mocked up, distributor set (I hope), PS/AC bracket on with PS pump loosely mounted.
Now got some wiring harness stuff to deal with, thinking that DEI stuff, and before @limp chimes in ; https://www.designengineering.com/press/dei-introduces-easy-loom-split-line-sleeving-master-kit/
not the political version.

I guess I need to get out more, there are a sht-ton of wire loom stuff, gonna shop around. Like adult homework.
Hey... Anybody got any loose wire loom? Not the plastic factory junk.
oh yeah, I got a 3G alt to mount and wire and I was looking at the pulley, it's larger than my old alt pulley, I have underdrive pulleys, yeah, I know, but they are on there, I have the stock size stuff if needed, anyway, seems like when I put the UD pulleys on including the UD pulley on the alt it over charged like 16 /18 volts just off idle, I put the stock pulley on and alls been well since, the 3G pulley is bigger in diameter so I don't know what to expext, the shaft for the 3G is smaller so the pulleys likely will not swap, may have to make some adjustments, we'll see.
Looks good, General!

A quick pic of the dog house, stuff buttoned up and I even lowered it a little closer to the ground, getting a few things done, need to decide if I'm going to get a kit for the 3G wiring or build a harness.

Man, that came out crappy, I'll take some better from my fone.
I have to admit I bash MSD stuff and what do I have?
the MSD Pro Billet distributor with an MSD TFI  it has performed flawlessly so far :nonono:
the metal wheel under the rotor has rusty crude on it, can I swap this easily from another distributor? i'll take a close up and post it.

It’s called a shutter wheel. As long as the crud is not affecting the shape of the slots the I would just pull it off, remove the crud, clean it up with some steel wool or the like then paint it flat black. Seems like all the stock ones were flat black. The Pro-M one is just bare steel. I don’t think a gloss finish would affect the PIP reading it but why tempt fate.

everything here is mounted on the engine, working on an airbox, not the stocker but something I stole from a member, pics on that later. gotta get the alt wiring sorted, AC lines mocked up and buy a radiator and battery.
And a couple bolts for the battery box. Getting close. (not really) I am NOT looking forward to getting back into the interiour, yeah need to pull seat and console out to replace the melted rubber (?) seal around the shifter which will involve making some kind of heat shield.
So much fun to be had :O_o:

Between trading and finding one that the guy didn't know what he had I ended up with 2 tubular uppers, a real cobra upper and 2 explorer uppers.
traded the cobra for the tubular upper you see in the pic and sold the others but missed out on the BIG money they get now, supposedly they get big bucks, never talked to anybody that bought one. I imagine some are collecting dust on someone's shelf.
Have one explorer setup left.

I got my Explorer upper/lower for a steal compared to today’s prices. But I hope to someday get it slapped on there with a new set of heads……. So I’m not selling!

You want an update? OK, I stuck the air filter on, I have to work on the box that goes around it, it's too ratty looking even for the Junk Pyle
Sold the Dump Truck, I think, gotta clean it up a bit on the outside and take it for a 'last ride'. May even take it through an apartment complex and watch the wave of 'wanted' cars suddenly leave in a hurry, ahhhhh, those were the days :p what fun we had!
Clean some contacts and get a tube of that electrical goop that was suggested earlier. A radiator, battery, and fresh petrol and it should light right off. I still have to take the console out to fix the shifter seal, still not sure how I'm going to do the heat shield though.
Not looking forward to that but it's gotta happen.
