Hey guys,

My car has about 95k on it right now and i'm looking to add some more power. I have thought about getting the vortech mongoose kit, but i dont know i want to add boost to a motor with so many miles on it.

I have found a local guy with an '01 motor with the saleen series II on it and all the supporting stuff. Right now he's asking too much, but if i can get him down to a good price, is this worth upgrading to? Are there any reasons an '01 motor won't fit in my car?

Also, i understand the vortech will make more power, but i don't think i want a centri-blower since i rarely wind my motor past 4k. i want the power at and under that RPM. I know the saleen won't give me big numbers, but i don't really care, i just want a little extra power.

Thanks guys.

I would get a compression and leakdown test asap, and if everything is good, go for it.

as long as you take care of your motor you should be fine.
what are you willing to pay for the other motor w/ roots blower on it?

screw the compression test. Just slap on the supercharger and give that motor hell. When it blows, rebuild the engine with forged internals. Your engine will go till 150k miles with a blower as long as it's properly tuned

Right now he is asking 5k for the whole package, 4k for just the blower and supporting stuff. For that money i can get a new mongoose kit, so he needs to come down. As much as i would just like to slap a blower on my current motor, if it lets go, i probably don't have the funds to rebuild it. Other thoughts?

Just put the blower on your current engine, and keep an eye open for another motor in case you get reckless and blow yours. If that happens, swap in another long block, and put your old one back together.

FWIW, 95K isn't "high mileage." 195K might be, but 95K is just broken in, it will run making good power longer than the rest of your car will stay together.
