for anyone following my story, here you can see what i was talking about . one pull would be fine then the next the a/f would get wavy. this is @14 degrees timing. tuner said when he put 15 in he heard it ping and got out of it and didnt finish the pull. so right now im at 14 timing 14 psi with some bugs that have to be worked out in the spring. im not sure the detonation is tied in with the wavy a/f but i guess it could be.

we do think its the maf location and style. thanks to everyone that has made suggestions. in the spring the maf setup will be changed to see if that helps. i might also do bigger blower cams as my new builder is saying that i should have bigger blower cams for my set up.

for now 506rwhp is not too bad!!!!:nice:

ill keep you guys updated.

Your A/F ratio looks too high.

I am assuming that line is set at 12.0? It dipped down where it should be at 42-4300 RPM but it climbs back up... I'd have him fix that plus back the timing down a smidge more.

Too little fuel will tie in with the detonation, and you don't want to run it on the ragged edge of constant detonation. Hell, no detonation at all is the only SAFE way.

Just my opinion, but I feel you should take it back and have the guy tune it a little better. You put a LOT of money into this project, don't let it slip over a likely simple tuning issue.

On the other hand, nice numbers...:nice:

agreed! :stupid:

yea, i was thinking it was too high too. i dont know why it is so high. i dont know if he is having trouble with it because of the maf or what.

does the a/f effect the power output? because maybe that is why he has it that high. maybe hes trying to make more power. i know i want a safe ride and i dont want to compramise that for a few hp.

is it tied in?

yea, im using the abaco. however, that will most likely be changed out next spring. im having no luck with it, dont know why. others are using them with no problems.

yea, i have to see if he can run it a bit more rich i need it to be safe. now im concerned.

i dont know why he has it that lean.

Where is he measuring A/F from? Tail pipe or one of the bungs in your exhaust?

If its from the tail pipe, your A/F is fine.

If from the rear or front 02 location....your a bit on the lean side.

So WHY didnt he pull that bad boy out to some more RPM????? Or if this is the run with pinging....just back the timing and make a full pass. Doesnt make a whole lot of sense....unless your engine still isnt broke in fully. In that case it shouldnt even be doing 6K dyno pulls....and after breakin you will gain alot of power.

You need to pull it out to 6500-6700RPMs at least with your ported heads + cams. You would probably make 530-540 atleast, just the way it is.

thanks guys. the following is the reply of my new guys on the matter

"Walking the line is 13.0 and you have a conservative timing map in the car
until we address you meter problem. Besides it's not even at max rpm...
When you do the meter, I can change it or if your uncomfortable with it... I
can make it 11.7 it's your call..."

yea, there some more power there on a 6500 rpm pull. we have to straighten out the maf thing first. i think that is the cause of a lot of the problems. like a lot of you said, it is too close to the bend messing things up.

ill keep you informed.

thanks again.

Definately something wrong. 14psi intercooled, blower cams, AND Stage 2 heads.... Your missing a good 30-50rwhp. Where do your cams make peak power? Im guessing at 6300-6500, you'd be gaining a good 20rwhp++ My 99 dynoed @ 418rwhp with 12.5psi, non-intercooled, bone stock motor. 12* timing, 93 octane.
