So I got the heads off today. The coolant passages are a little plugged up too.

The cylinder walls are not impressive. I might need more than a honing. That's ok, it's going to get a full service shortly anyhow. The head gaskets looked just fine though. There is a glimmer of crosshatching in a couple cylinders. It looks like an engine that has set for a number of years. No real big deal other than the Stop Leak.

I also removed the water pump. The passage going into the right side of the block was completely blocked with the Stop Leak crap.

That poor engine must have been running bad hot in places.

Oh well, here’s how it sits for now. I’ll be pulling off the rest of the front end including the cam within the next day or two.

Hmm. Dave can we get a parts rundown on what you were thinking for the engine?
At least as best as I can figure for now Steve, these are the main things I'll be doing:

- Starting with the supercharger I'm thinking the MPx case, inlet tube and hat. Plus a rebuilding of the nose and maybe a coating of the rotors. An 85mm throttle body too. The supercharger will be the priciest section of the engine.

- The heads will be sent off to Tom Morana for an extensive porting, stronger springs, and possibly larger valves (though i'm not sure if this mod would be of any benefit for me). Essentially they will be like getting new aluminum performance heads. About the same cost too, roughly $1500.

- The block will be sent out to be dipped, sonically checked for integrity. At least honed, but maybe a slight overbore.....~.020ish? I'll have the lifter bores checked as well.

- The rotating assembly will probably be entirely replaced. I'm going with a 4.2 liter late '90's F150 crank, forged rods and a set of forged pistons that I haven't really give a lot of thought to yet, not sure who would be best.

- A slightly more aggressive cam too.

- Of course I'll need things like larger injectors, ARP fasteners, etc, etc, etc, and lots more etc's.

This list goes on and on Steve, I'm picturing I'll end up spending at least crate money engine prices in the end.

I'll also be going through Ron Francis for a custom wiring harness. Then there's the whole computer system to run it, you'll be hearing from me in depth when that time comes.

Soo were thinking 4.2l stroker mpx build huh.... you sir are going to hurt alot of v8 feelings..... I say an easy 400 400 conservatively....

Kind of what I was thinking Steve. This should be fun.

400HP would be nice, I'm after the torque readings though, mid 400's and I'll be very happy.

Are you going edis with this setup dave?

Edit: I’m sure you have seen it-but I’ve been researching 4.2 rebuilds since my faithful old F150 developed a slight ‘Knock’ lol. But this site has lots of info/parts-http://supersixmotorsports.com/
I'll reuse what I can of the sc's edis system, but yes, it will be edis.

I've been looking through that site periodically too Chris.

Go here and read up... Will need to build your own harness or send It to me and I will build it for you.

This thing will do everything.... it's about 100x faster and has 20x the capability of the one I use.
Ok Steve, so this $1600 computer will control basically anything i want to do, am I right?

Let's say I want PNP, where do I get the hardware part of that?

I'm a bit of a fan of Ron Francis for the actual wiring harness, what do you think?

I can build you anything you want.... or Mike can do it for you since he offered...

The ms3 can launch the space shuttle.... definently not needed I just wanted to spend your money:D

The Francis harness sounds like a nice place to start from for sure.

Question. How does that SC setup do with heat soak versus say a KB 302? Does the M90 run coolant through it at all? Ive never read up on it to know how it stays cool enough to be a factory option, versus KB's dying off from a subpar rap on pushrod V8s.

The 'little engine that will' looks pretty ugly and constipated right now but after a machine shop makeover with some gray paint on the block and heads, maybe black wp, intake and blower with some body colored valve covers and brackets, a few chrome do dads and it will look like a beauty queen with a 400+ kick.
SCOOT'N SCUBY!
Yea, too much coffee again.

The M90 does not run coolant through it. It has an intercooler, that's it. I'm not sure about a heat soak problem.
