I plan on ordering a Kenne Bell Supercharger within the next week. Ive been driving myself nuts thinking about it. Ive read up a ton about them. I go to their website like everyday. My major problem is deciding between the 1.7 and the 2.2. I know you can only run the 2.2 at like 9 psi without any major motor work. And I know they say to run the 1.7 at 9 psi for the same reason. Now, eventually I plan to do the motor over within the next year or two. Its like a $500 difference between the 2 so thats not a major problem. I also already have the tuner whos doing the install. He says to run the 2.2. My question is will my stock motor be safe for the year or year and a half that its gonna have the supercharger on it?? I know that adding any kind of boost could ruin the motor, but i do plan on running it on a relatively safe tune and it probably wont ever be tracked(maybe one day just to see what she runs). Knowing all his now, what do you guys suggest?? Everyone's advice is much appreciated. Thanks for you time.

2.2 all the way

id go with the 2.2, he can run it stock with 36lbs inj 90mm light or cobra mass air and a nice tune, you will need a larger hood tho, either cobra R or the extreme hood, youll also need a focus pump, get a 4 inch 6 rib pulley and youll be right were you need to be for now stock, just dont be tacking it out, and hitting the rev limiter and make sure you get a good tune

Everyone here has already given you the best advice. If you plan on building your motor in the near future then run the 2.2. Don't be afraid of blowing your motor because of this blower. You can actually make really nice power at less boost than what you would you would make with the 1.7 at more boost. Just don't get greedy and pulley it down. Then you are going to grenade your motor. The only reason anyone would tell you not to run this blower is because it has the potential to easily.

2.2 is displacing more air at lower boost ( pulley speed ) so your air charge will be cooler. You can run that combo as long as you want with a proper tune. Like I said, just don't get greedy! You already have you hood clearance. You may want to look into a BAP for later.

Good luck.

Ok, so if I order the 2.2 "tuner kit", it doesnt come with injectors, chip, etc. I already have a chip so thats not a big deal, but I do need injectors. Does anyone have any suggestions or are injectors basically all the same. I was thinking of running 42 #'s, but didnt know which brand, if any, was better than the other. I was gonna order the 8-rib kit too(over the 6-rib), to prevent belt slippage, is this necessary?

Just out of curiosity, how much does the 2.2L "tuner kit" run? For injectors, I'm using Ford Racing's 42 lb'ers. You can get them cheap off of eBay from Blue Oval Racing. I think I paid less than $250 for a complete set of (8)...brand new, not used or refurbished.

Just curious - with a good tune could you run this 2.2L at 12psi? I'm currently running my Saleen Series IV at 12.5psi and no issues...or am I on borrowed time?

Oh yeah, got any pics of your car with the carbon fiber 2k Cobra R hood?

No, sorry no pics of the hood. I put it on when the scoop on the factory hood decided it didnt like being attached to the rest of the hood and ripped off and smashed my windshield. This was in November and I put it away like 2 weeks later for the winter. Damn New England weather. But I will be pulling it out in the next month or so hopefully to have the supercharger put on and Ill try posting some pics then. On the price of the 2.2, the website says its $5400 for the 2.2 kit and then $400 for the 8-rib kit, which Im told is pretty useful for belt slippage. Ive been told that unless your bottom end is pretty well built, that anything above 9 psi will kill your motor as was said above.

all i have to say is....

2.2L

Yea, I decided to go with a procharger. Maybe Ill be happy, maybe I wont. I just know that the price difference between the 2.2 and p1-2 was about $1600. The guy whos doing the install and tune on my car took me for a ride in a procharged car and it was exactly what I was looking for and then some. Ill let everyone know how I feel when the install is done.
