2Blue2's 1977 Cobra2 Driveway Build

You can't shorten it up enough?

"Dang! I was hoping to get 3" more with a new spoiler"

Same sentiment, but I don't know if it would meet the character requirements or not....

Not on my list of things to excel at I guess..... :(

I was at work and in the mindset that I have when I have to page a doc about an order that I've done. I only have so many characters to work with so that's where my head was at....

New CoPilot built a web in the last hour.
Lets see the Black Widow was a 57 Chevy racer right?

Of course the 77Cobra2's real compition was probable the Monza Spyder

I don't know where I'm going with this but I'm on a BBQ food high, it was so yummy :)
even the Dog is happy and sleepy.

I also have the same issue. Shell no pest strips (if you can get them) work well in a garage. Also we don't have black widows in Minnesota.

Mustang II accessory gas tank

This is the problem.

She is split from my thumb to my finger around that curve.
I just cleaned the caulking some idiot (ahem) put on it. the metal ring is also rusty rusty
So it leaks that last 3 gallons on the ground.
The whole death by fire worries me, so doing something

My temporary plan looks like this
Piece of 2.25 inch stainless turbo piping (guaranteed to be faster because)
2.25 inside diameter fuel rated hose
1973 mustang gas filler neck with the vent- ey thing inside.

I know someone worked hard to put that pipe retains ring bend into it,
but it don't fit so I cut it off and filed the end.
Then with WD40 it slid in the tank with stock rubber ring just perfect tight

That will probably what goes wrong on mine next. But it's holding for now. Fingers crossed.
I'll have to remember to look this up. You have a way of making the difficult look simple.
Good job.

Now the 73 filler's flange was to big to fit in body recess.
The cas cap slot sizes are different but stock cap still fit nice.
5 mounting holes instead of 4

A bit of a trim and she slides home.
77 mutt2 gas cap and 77 maverick gas cap side by side.

I started to vent tubes and realized I can't attach them and still slide thru fender.
Had to pie cut the end a couple of time to get both pipes to line up
I just cut right though the vent thing and reached inside to tack it at the end
but ended up not having to rotate mounting flange to get stock gas cap to sit right.

After a few rounds of light grinding and rewelding pinholes in spray bombed the end black

I transferred the 4 hole pattern with a sharpie and drilled the flange instead of the car
Cap sat up to high above fender so I hammered and dolled the flange to a better fit.
Touched it up with a brush and some black paint

I looped the vent lines over the top and zip tied them in place
At least I can get gas in the car now.

Had to try the Maverick gas cap
it touches fender and is a no go
Now I need to wax that poor fender but off to gas station first.

Windshield washer - what's that??? :rlaugh:

Maybe one of these days I'll buy another II just so I can have some of the stuff that I currently don't, like a washer reservoir, dome light, etc. It definitely woulda been nice to have back in Iowa before I moved down here. Driving after the sun starts going down around all of the cornfields was bound to bugsplat the windshield. Now that I'm down here I don't have too much of a problem - but then again I haven't taken it out a whole lot since I've had it down here either.....
