2Blue2's 1977 Cobra2 Driveway Build

Safety Loop

In the last bit of daylight of the old year,
the son and I decided to work on the safety loop.
We just came from the Ford vs Ferrari movie
So our energy was high.

So up it goes and my son is under it.
We cut the ends to fit floor pan better and made some aluminum doubler plates.
That part of the carpet was already gone ( I got new, its turn is coming) so install was easy.

I'm calling success, sort of. The exhaust touches it, barely so got to do something with that.
But now its dark and fire work time. No damn quarter mile pole vault thank you!

Happy New Year Stang Net.

New exhaust time! If the shipping wouldn't be so outrageous, I'd ship you the Flowmaster Super 44 system off of ElSuperPinto's prececessor so that Cobra would sound as good as it looks.

Hey don't be laughing at my 1 an 3/4 single exhaust mid pipe under there

I'd ship you the Flowmaster Super 44 system

That would be bad ass:)

We got some exhaust stuff we is collecting for that moment.
Santa didn't bring cutouts like I asked, of course I wasn't a good boy either, lol.

Sub-Frame Connecters

Been sitting around long enough, time to get em on the Cobra2
From South Side Machine thru Classic Auto Reproductions, bout 130$

Mounting point on front sub frame is mashed in from yrs of jacking.
Must of been there favorite spot. Some of that is the factory shape m2 frame rails have.
It needed some massaging with the 2lbs sludge and a big drift.
Leaf spring's Front two mounting bolts are spot welded and needed to be busted loose.
Breaker bar and piece of pipe did the trick.

Didn't feel the bolts were grabbing enough threads so got some 2 inch 7/16-14 10.9 grade 8
Once again I din't have to pull any interior (thanks to the carpet being so tattered) to get to the bolts in front of rear seat.

Installing em together.
Just got to mount brake and gas line brackets and maybe paint a coat of Rustolem Semi gloss Black with a brush.

Build Sheet

I pulled the passenger seat out and stuck in the bottom seat springs was this dry rotted bug eaten wad of paper.
It kind of crumbled as I tried to unfold it. The wind started blowing pieces away so in to the house I went.
