Hi Everyone!

Well, a co-worker of mine, is currently having problems with his 89 Stang GT 5.0 Vert Manual. Whenever he turns on the car, and gives it gas, it would smell like fresh gas, like if the car doesn't burn the gas. He thought it was the o2 sensors so he replaced them. It's still having the same problem. Also, whenever he presses in the clutch to go into reverse, the car would just bog out. It only happens when he is going into reverse.

Plugs and wires are new. The car is running with headers no cats I believe. Could it be a bad fuel pump? What about the fuel filter? I recalled that he hasn't changed it for a while.

I'd check the fuel pressure at the rail first. You'll need a gauge and attach it to the schrader valve. The valve is located on the pass. side of vehicle near the oil filler cap. The best thing to do would be to have a long rubber test hose attached to the gauge, run in under the hood and tape the gauge onto the windshield so you can read the pressure while driving. Although, I wouldn't recommend any highway driving. A trip down the street should be fine. Fuel pressure will vary under throttle from about 36-42 psi.
