I noticed literally zero difference when going from all rubber to poly mounts for everything. My rubber mounts were still in perfectly good shape when I replaced them. Only reason is because I put a new engine in and I wasn’t going to reuse the rubber ones.

Maybe oem uses rubber mounts because they’re cheaper.

No, they were replaced In 2015 when the car was converted from a v6 to a v8.

Anything else you wanna call me out on?

Not a mustang, but I changed out all of my old rubber bushings in my old Dodge truck. It made it handle FAR better than the old rubber ones. Not as much deflection I guess.

My original point was that poly mounts are more rigid than rubber mounts, and there is a vibration penalty when converting to them. Because you can't tell any difference between the rubber one that was there before doesn't mean that there isn't any.

Poly bushings, in every other scenario are way more restrictive in every other application they're used in. Suspensions become more likely to bind in certain situations, steering racks transmit more road "feel" back through the steering and Poly motor mounts eliminate excessive engine movement. and THAT translates into increased vibration felt in the chassis.

My question to you would be: If you were a company making a poly motor mount, and charging twice over what a rubber one costs...How effective would your "testimony" be if you were quoted as saying " I felt no difference between the rubber and the poly one"

I don't know about you, but if I read that, I'd have to question what you consider a "difference". And I'd ask myself....Why am I buying these again?

Great marketing ploy.

The benefit to a poly mount is that it's less harsh than a full solid mount ( which I have). And ill tell ya, there is definitely vibration that can be felt in my car. its not like people think...when an engine is being held rigidly...the vibration is felt in the form of harmonics...the engine gets at a certain rpm while cruising and you feel it like a pulse...

It's there on your car too...you just have to know what to look for.

What I’m saying is I notice zero nvh, if you do that sucks. While I don’t mean to speak for everyone, most people don’t notice any recognizable downsides to the poly mounts, except a larger upfront cost.

I’d put them in again without thinking twice.

Just to clarify, we did poly because the rubber mounts we had which seem to be the common parts store part did not fit and we have seen many reviews saying they broke again in under 1,000 Miles. Energy suspension has wonderful testimonies through forums and vendors so we decided to spring for the extra upfront cost to get it done. Tomorrow we will have them in hopefully have the Cobra ready to rip again.

Mounts fit perfect and 3 out of four bolts are in, the passenger side rear threads in the block seem to be bad as bolt won’t seat in the block threads, 7 hours in...

Motor mounts are in! Had to utilize a dog nose bolt to get past the initial bad threads in the block and everything fit into place nicely. Cleaned up the oil cooler and installed the new gasket from LMR, new oil filter in and buttoned back up everything we removed for the mm install. Started the car and oil began shooting out from around the oil cooler area, we suspect it is the wrong gasket because upon comparison the gasket lmr provided is simply an o ring shape while the oem gasket had a flat lip on the top. I believe this gasket was catered more towards the ssp fox bodies oil cooler even though they said it should work for 94-95 cobras as well. Now we must source a proper gasket for the oil cooler to block to get her back on the road

I get skeptical when someone says 'it should work'
you can bet I'm taking notes from this, I've got that cobra intake hidden in the back yard.

I swear that looks like a regular oil filter o ring... It's square edged just like a regular oil filter o ring. It may be shorter than one though.

And for Christmas, my parents graciously gifted me brand new cobra headlights, I couldn’t wait for the led bulbs so I installed them right away after we washed and buffed her out. First two pics are before from a year prior, and the rest are from today, led head lights will be in on the 28th. Very happy with how this build is coming along, slowly becoming the vision I had in mind when we bought it. Merry Christmas to all!

Aubeam headlights arrived yesterday, and will finish up install today
Looks like I’m going to have to modify the bulb retainer to clear the fans on the new lights.

Halogen on left , led on right

Note these pictures are prior to the buffing of the fogs so they appear a little yellow against the headlights

Took on a little fun project today in trying to restore old headlights, not a full blown effort just a little experiment
Here’s after 400 grit

After first coat of clear

Third coat of clear done, still have to wait a couple days to sand it down once more to get rid of orange peel and polish it out
