So while replacing the entire seatbelt assembly as well and the bushing repair to the quarter windows, more problems were revealed. My driver power seat doesn’t go all the way forward, so I was unable to reach the seatbelt buckle (right by the center console). The way I got to it was to remove the 10mm bolts where the seat meets the track underneath, there’s four of them, this allowed me to move the seat a little just enough to replace the seat belt buckle. As you know if you’ve been on this thread earlier, I’m doing focus st seats sometime soon, so I’m not concerned with putting the seat back in. What I couldn’t figure out is how to completely remove the seat off the track with the wiring harness as I will show in the pics below. So as of now I just left the seat resting on top of the track until I can get it figured out. For now, the track won’t move forward far enough to reveal the rear bolts from the track to the frame to completely remove it. Apologies for the long winded thoughts, just looking to figure this out.

I've got a power seat track that I think is from a t bird around here someplace, no idea why.

The t bird and mustang seat tracks don't swap... or should I say, the turbo coupe power seat tracks wouldn't fit my 88 fox. I also had to tap holes in the seat pan for the seats to fit the fox tracks.

Looks like you could just unplug the wire connectors to remove the seat from the track. The seat track itself must be dirty or rusty around the screw mechanism the moves the seat forward and backwards. You can soak it down with pb blaster or wd40. If the seat will move a little you should be able to move it back and forth enough to get to the screws after lubricating.

I had a power seat from my 92 vert, it was froze up, have not seen it lately, was hoping to swap parts to make it work but they are totally different, still need to find it, it's here someplace, I rarely toss anything.

I soaked the rods in wd40 and pb blaster and moved it as far as it could with no luck. The thing with the connectors is that only two unplug, there’s some that is physically part of the motor, it sounds confusing but I’ll try and get more pics of it.

The circled connectors run to the harness that connects to the seat control panel, but they are attached to the bracket by the motor, didn’t try too hard to remove it out of fear of breaking

If you unplug those three connectors the seat part will come out. The motors on these seats have like a square or triangle cable the runs through the tubes into the mechanisms that turn the nut type contraption on the seat track.

If you look at the other side from the motor shaft there's a yellow center. If the motor has failed sometimes you can turn the mechanism from that side with a small flat screwdriver or similar shaped tool to the inside of that yellow piece.

Also, try picking straight up on the front motor ( that runs to the track ) while trying to use the switch to move the track. The cables sometimes strip the plastic in the mechanism at the edge. Picking up that motor a little should help more of the cable go into it. Could always remove the motor and cable assembly and slide the cable out. Then put it in a drill, stick into mechanism at track and slowly turn the cable.

Got the seat out, just need to find the best way to get the track to move forward, wish it was just a manual seat at this point. I will compare the focus st seats to the mounting locations while it’s out

Focus st seats are 7 inches wider in the track and four inches longer , can’t think of a way to make them work as for now sadly, and input is greatly appreciated

Really like that they match the saddle properly, would imagine tmi would make a comfy seat. Also, isn’t there a discount for a site vendor?

Focus ST seats could go in the turbo Buick instead, will still mock up in cobra

Looks like the st seats are a no-go, too much fabrication involved taking safety into account. Seats are also too wide and tall. Such a shame, they really are crazy comfy

Also, we were able to move the track by disconnecting the rods to access that last seat bolt. However, the head of the bolt snapped clean off leaving it inside the hole. Track is out so I’m looking to either repair it or replace with manual sliders. Will have to drill th rest of the bolt out

Tried drilling out the stuck bolts, broke a good handful of bits in the process.
For now we’re dropping the oem seats at the upholstery shop to get redone, will have to visit the junkyard for a manual seat track
