well, i finally got my self another fox, this time an '89 gt hatch with an automatic and gray interior. thing is virtually mint too, not one single aftermarket part on it, 137k miles, no rust, undercoated (thats in real good shape), factory paint, this car is a virgin (hence why i think im going to nickname it mary). not that it doesnt have its flaws, has a few small hail dents and other little dings, some chipping paint around hatch and hood, drivers side power lock actuator froze up and wouldnt let the door lock (just drilled out the rivet for now, ill replace it later), and she wouldnt pass emissions (had a good mechanic buddy look at it for me, replaced egr, pcv, regapped plugs, etc, the car had been mostly sitting for a while and probably needed a good tuneup anyway). anyways, finally got un-busy enough to get one of my buddies to snap a few good pics of it today while trying to beat the rain, heres a few of the better ones to keep you guys entertained.

let the mods begin!

as soon as i can get it past the sniffers, the fun will begin. planning on mac exhaust from the headers back to start with, then gears and maybe a shift kit. might eventually swap to a tko or something, but thats probably a ways down the line. it feels good to have a car that can look good and hasnt been molested at all for a change, unlike the last stang, which seemed to be more hackjob than finished product (wiring nightmares, half-assed paint and interior work, etc). a clean slate should be fun to work on (and cleaner, no oil leaks that i can find).

I agree , nice to find a virgin stang to start with . I myself just got an beautiful adult owned lady driven bone stock 89 LX hatch . You have to appreciate the simple beauty of a clean stock stang , such a rare sight anymore .

I also started with some nice exhaust from the headers back , K&N , subframes and swapped out the AOD . I recommend the T-5 swap , It really wasnt a difficult job and I did it myself in my garage . Its like a whole different car with the 5 speed , that AOD is such a big heavy boat anchor .

Good luck and enjoy!

Yea I agree - clean car! Complete stockers make me wish I could afford to buy a mint stocker and put it away for 20 years. It's gonna me mighty tough finding a stock fox body Mustang in the year 2026!

thanks aaron. this one is defintely not getting put away, at least for a while, i think that would be stang abuse. but you are right, in about 20 years these cars will be as hard to find and worth as much as the first-gen mustangs are now. i just hope i can keep mine for even half that long.
