Hello my Name is Mustang Johnny..I am new in here my 90 lx 5.0 is all stock. I have a buddy who has a Junk yard with 6 G.t. fox bodys...So one had a Cobra intake on it don't know if the motor is a Cobra motor or not so I bought the intake got some 24 pound injectors out of a Mark 8 and the mass air flow what kind of power would they give me if any power at all please help

X3 skip the inj. They don't "add" power. They only support a certain horsepower level(about 50 or so more than you're making) and will just make your car run rich/ lead to problems. If you're adding more parts like cam/heads,etc then you can add the inj and a matching MAF

^^^ that's a good starting point. I don't know the rest of your cars modifications and or your plans for the car. A great bang for the buck in performance is a set of rear gears(if yours are stock). For a manual most like 3.55/3.73-automatic 3.73 or 4.10's. Error on the smaller side if you drive the car a lot on the highway.

unless you enjoy swapping out intakes, i wouldn't bother with an intake swap with stock heads and a cam. Maybe worth 10-15 hp. Same for shorty headers on a stock motor- maybe 10hp if that, MAC headers are very low quality and the individual flanges lead to leaks and warping.

Save up for a good set of TFS or AFR heads, a good cam, and then do the H/C/I swap at once.

I agree with most of what people are saying. If you have a small budget then you should go ahead and install the "cobra" intake. 10-15 hp is something you CAN feel in my opinion. That along with a cold air intake, good headers, off-road h/x pipe and cat back exhaust along with gears really wake these cars up! Even with the recommended heads, cam, and intake you'll still need the above mentioned exhaust and gears to compliment it. It costs thousands to go fast.

If the motor is just sitting there.... Take the heads too.

15 HP for the intake and another 10 at the wheels for the headers is VERY optimistic in my opinion. I would be surprised if the two together came to 10 actual wheel HP.

you can feel 10hp difference in a car? No offense but I doubt it. Not that I advise it- throw a set of U/D pullleys on for less than $100 if you have to get 10hp somewhere for a lot less hassle and money. I bet you can't tell the difference with them either other than the cooling and charging issues.

Aftermarket cold air intakes offer near zero hp increase over the stock CAI- that is a fact. It is for looks. Same for shorty headers on a stock motor- you gain nothing in hp and may actually lose low end torque. Several magazines have done testing on shorty headers and most found minimal if any gains.

I think you have a case of listening to the marketing claims of companies vs. real world. If you listen to them you should get 15hp for the pullies, 15 for the CAI and 20 for shorty headers for a total of 50 hp over stock.. lol.. more like 10 which you can get by replacing the stock air filter with a K&N panel filter.

To the OP, do what you want. It's your time and money, but you will be dissapointed if you are expecting any real power gains with a simple intake swap.

This is a pretty nice article:

There are lots of intake comparisons regarding big cube stroker small blocks but very few on less radical builds. I think this the reason so many come up with inflated numbers. Comparing and intake swap to one that includes a buit bottom end, heads, cam....

This article talks about a mild rebuild from DSS. Upgraded rockers, better heads, blah blah blah... It amounts to what most of us would do if performing a rebuild.

So... with that in mind and also much better heads, take a look in the torque and HP differences between these intakes. Now I ask ya... How much HP is an intake really going to make on a stock motor through stock heads? Not a ton.
