Pulled the starter apart ,the contacts were corroded ,cleaned them and it works ,but new stuff is getting crappier so I don't expect it to keep working ,it is nothing like the original starter

Do you have the original?

Do have a guy locally that rebuilds motors and alternators?

Looking good. Who built your engine test stand? it looks Ford small block specific? You're inspiring me. I have a '65 289 with low miles on a rebuild that I need to get back on freshening up.
Keep up the good work!

So we ran into a problem, haven't fired the motor yet because it isn't oiling through the push rods to the rockers .
Pulled it apart thinking I got a cam bearings wrong and happend to look at a lifter and noticed there is no hole in the lifter puck for oiling the rockers . Pulled it apart for nothing! It has 60 pounds pressure now but no oil to the rockers, is this a f'd up batch of lifters or are they for some other application? We are running a 280h comp cam ,never seen this before!

That's not right. Not for a Windsor, at least.

Where did you get them?

I am thinking they are for a 390 -428 ,they have solid push rods and oil through the rocker shafts . Already tossed the box so no way to verify what they are for

Ok people ,check those cam kits when you get them ,turns out the cam is a comp cam 280 h for small block ford ,but ,the lifters were for a 390 ford. 390s oil through the rocker shafts ,small block fords oil through the push rods so the 390 lifters are not drilled for oiling through the top .
New lifters came in today ,loaded them in and didn't even adjust the valves yet and we have 60 pounds pressure and oil out the top of the rockers just the way it is supposed to be. Going to prime the crap out of it before we fire it to make sure is is wet before it ever starts .

Alright , new lifters in ,primed it and we have 60 pounds oil pressure ,lifters were primed and we have oil out of the push rods.
Got the intake back on and valve covers on just to keep out any thing that may decide to take an oil bath!
This week end we will bolt it back on the stand ,finish hooking everything up and it should fire up !

Back together and on the stand. It's ready to fire but I want to prime it one more time for good luck ,then I just have to drop in the distributor !

I primed it for about 5 minutes ,60 pounds oil pressure ,dropped in the distributor and filled the bowls on the Holley ,hit the key and it fired ...and the battery is dead! Soon as it charges up it should fire right up ...fingers crossed!

Looking good!
You must be encountering some of "First Brands" parts that they had a hand in messing up. A new fuel pump that doesn't work.
What could be next?
With the first set of lifters predrilled on the top, I could see where that got by you.

That is one torquey little bastage!
Friggen fuel pump was the problem all along! If you buy one of these from autozone ,take it back or throw it in the trash! I had a new old stock for a 260 that has been sitting in the box since 1971 and the frigen thing still works!
The bullets chirp like a bird so I may bolt my spin tecks on . The smoke from header paint about did me in ! https://www.facebook.com/View: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2904414813253012/?mibextid=9drbnH
