Saleen, Drive it or park it?

Put some miles on that Saleen for me. I happen to be 19 and only have a GT. Bought it with 48,000 miles on it and in 2 years i've got it up to only 52,000. Although I have over 6,000 invested in mods to the motor and exterior I get crap from all my friends for never driving it and never using the power. If i had a Saleen I'd drive it everywhere. Than again I live in ND and I have seen 1 Saleen in person and that was over the weekend when I was in a town 200 miles away from my home for a car show. I thought my car sounded good with full exhaust... That Saleen sounded like me stomping the **** out of mine just idleing by.

Drive it because there are kids like me dreaming of owning one, and probly never will. That and I love to watch people stop on the street and watch my car drive by. I can only imagine what a Saleen does to others when they go by.

You owe it to them....

I'm back to stangs now, so don't flame me for owning a GM product( I actually owned two of these, & will never own another), but when I had my 97 30th Anniversary Z28:

I had old men approach me all the time talking about their 67's like it, and people at gas stations would just walk up to me and start asking me questions about it...I came out of the grocery store once to some old man with his hands on each side of his face up against the driver-side window... :D The car was super-clean and always blingin'... it drew sooooooo many looks. Its a really good feeling to know that just a car has such a positive impact on other people. So now you too owe it to the people around you, at the gas station, the mall, the drive-thru's, the grocery store, etc...

dude, that saleen is sweet. of course, being a saleen owner i agree with everyone else. saleen's motto is "power in the hands of a few"...you gotta drive that thing like it wants to be driven. if that car could talk it's be a :taco: to say leave me in the garage. underneath it all that car is a mustang and who buys a mustang without thinking of modding it. since the day i bought mine i've been adding the best of the best to the car. when i get the KB and other mods put on here in a few weeks it will be a monster, snorting down the road. and you know what? soon after, i'll start adding more to it where possible. my car is parked at the moment because of a freak problem, if not for that, i'd be driving it until the KB was ready for installation. mine is gun metal grey with a carbon fiber cowl hood...awesome looking car. get out there and show yours off, i do.

i have some pics but the stupid thing says it's an improper attachment or some dumb s*** like that. i can never get this site to take or post pics of me car. lemme know what i'm doing wrong and i will.
Adjust the resolution of the pic to 800x600.

Mine is a daily driver, and extremely frequent autocrosser. I have put a couple of cone rashes on it, but they have been far worth it! I would say drive it as much as possible, and look for different events to join.

I also have modified it prettty heavily (Maximum motorsport coil-overs, rear cobra brakes, cobra radiator, etc. etc.). The goal being to remove as little Saleen stuff as possible while augmenting the performance as much as possible.

Have fun owning one, and if you haven't heard of Chicane Sport yet, I would highly reccomend checking them out, they put out a lot of great Saleen specific products. www.chicanesport.com

car looks awesome! I agree w/ everyone else and drive it as much as possible. I would avoid the bad weather though. Where i live I see two saleens every morning on my way to work. silver hardtop and a white conv. I hate to see cars that are always garaged and never driven!

I don't think steve allen or ford for that matter put power under our hoods so we can just look at them. Drive it and enjoy it to the fullest extent. Also on a side note if you haven't broken anything on it yet then your not driving it hard enough! Nice car by the way, that was the first time I saw an actually picture of that hood and i like it.
