Will a 235 wide tire fit on an 8" rim?

Just like the title says, will a 235 wide tire fit on an 8" rim? I anted to run 245/45's all the way around, but I've heard that the widest tire you can run up front is 235, and anything more than that you have to do some modifications. My car has been lowered about an inch and a half. I plan on getting the Saleen SC replicas, 235/45 all the way around. Thanks

i have stock pony's on my car an its lowered with eibach sportlines. looks to be about 2.5 inches lower then stock an i have 225/50/16s up front, they rub because i still dont have caster camber plates but you deff can fit 245s up front. i have 245/50/16s out back an its fine. there hancook hr2's all around an im very happy with the way they grip in rain an at the track. plus i only paid $83 each for the fronts and $89 each out back mounted an balanced. i would do 245s up front and 255s out back atleast with your new rims imo.

Yes, you can run that tire on a 8" rim...but it looks horribly stupid.

Go with 245s and either install turning stops or simply don't turn the wheel to full lock.

Some brands don't look stupid because some brands are wider than others even in the same size. I had a Mustang come in here with 17X8 Bullits and 235-45-R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3. They looked fine. I didn't even know they were 235's till I took the tires off the wheels and cleaned them up...I say go for it.

I have 17x8's up front with 235-40 tires and I dont see anything horribly stupid I think it actually fits pretty square with the wheel

Dmarstroker, what brand Cobras are those? Are you running any spacers? The setup looks pretty mean. The 235's are right there on the edge but they don't look bad.

The wheels are 03 cobra replicas from afswheels, running no spacers up front because the 96+ spindles pushed them out to the edge. The rears I m running 17x10.5's with a 3/8 spacers on 315 nitto DR

I do have camber plates on my car, so would that make a difference? I plan on going the same size on all four corners so I can still rotate the tires.

Sorry to the origonal OP for derailing this thread even further but, what did you have to do to get the 10.5's to fit out back?

I stand corrected. Allow me to rephrase, the two times I saw 235s on an 8" rim they looked stupid. The above tires look like they fit perfectly, the ones I have seen in the past looked horribly too small. The edge of the tread was inside the lip of the rim, causing the side wall to slope inwards. I don't recall what brand tires they were, but they looked horrible.

Come to think of it, my 245s look exactly like the ones pictured, I can't imagine getting the same tire in a 235 and having it look any where near "normal".

I've got 245/50/16s all around on 16x8s. The Kumhos I had on before I remember rubbing more than the Falkien's I've got on now.

I have 255/40's on my 8 inch wheel an it looks awesome. I previously had that tire on my 9 inch wheels and didn't have any problems at all. My car was lowered as well.
