Alright, i'm still feeling crappy but I thought i'd do something.

So I pulled the timing gears/chain, and pulled out the camshaft.

Since it only takes a couple minutes to drop pistons

The worst of the rod bearings off of the number four piston rod.

I wasn't going to do anything tonight. Fact is, I was supposed to help my son replace the thermostat housing on his mustang. I told him no since I still felt like crud..............uhm.............So I told him to pull his car in the garage when he gets home from school tomorrow night. Then I went and did this. There's no helping me I guess.

So I may pull the crank wednesday.

Hell Nick, I wanted to have it completely torn down over last weekend. Then I spent the time in bed instead.

I didn't really mind the extra time in the garage.
 
Hey Steve, @a91what . Why are the Pro-M systems so expensive? What do you think of them?
Basically they take there own maf and using there own software build a tunable system. You are however stuck within the confines of the system, no doing whatever you want build wise. If they don't support it you don't get it. MAF tuning is about 1000 times easier than SD tuning.

I have never tuned with this system so I can't give you any feedback there.

As for the cost I assume it is because you are dealing with a proprietary system with a large name brand attatched to it..

I am doing a full writeup soon on tuning a MAF setup it will be MS specific however.. but the basic principals apply to most standalone systems.
 
So, pulling my crank by popular request. I wonder if a forged 3.8 crank is worth something? I won't be using this one again.

The only bearing that looked a little worn was the front upper main.

Nothing real exciting about this picture, just put the main caps back on the block.

Soooooo, next! The block needs a bath. I know I've been told the machinist will need the new rotating assembly to work on the block, but don't I need to know if the cylinders will need more than honing first before I buy the pistons?

Speaking of that. I wonder if there's much room for overboring these cylinders? I got some larnin' to do.

Yes, you'll need to know if the cylinders are workable as standard...that'll require they measure the bore at the very least. While you may have one shop you prefer over any other(s)..any competent shop could measure that and tell you what you need.
