The old clutch fork and pivot ball had seen better days, so they had to go.

Mofo is definitely more labor intensive than a single disc. Forgot how much this :poo: sucks to do on a garage floor too. Just gotta throw the trans back in and she’ll be done. Need a second hand for that though, so it might not happen till early next week.

Got the trans stuck back in today after I got home from work. Wasn’t too bad, the clutch fork is definitely a little easier to move, and pedal feel is good. Just need to button everything back up and fill it with fluid…tomorrow.

Only thing I didn’t really anticipate was having to move the cable to the next spot down on the quadrant. The clutch is much taller than a single disc, so it makes sense. The fork is a bit further back in the housing than I’d like, but I’m going to see how it does. There is a good bit of clearance so I know it’ll have no issue releasing. Might need to get an adjustable pivot ball if it gives me issues. For now I took out the lock washer under the ball, which gained me about 3 mil of movement in my favor.

Let a friend borrow my rts wheels and et streets so he can fit them up to his fairmont, so the first drive with this clutch might involve slicks lol.

Drove the car with the new clutch for the first time today. If I didn’t put it in myself, I wouldn’t believe someone if they told me it would hold 4 digit power. The pedal is so easy to depress it’s crazy.

No chatter or anything, very smooth.

I had a kit of snap rings In the toolbox, but of course it goes from 5/8 to 3/4, which are two popular sizes. Lo and behold the shaft is cut for a 11/16 diameter external snap ring. I called around to grainger and fastenal, but neither had them in stock. McMaster has a facility not far from Savannah, so I can usually get stuff next day.

I decided to give the local Napa a call since it’s fairly good size, and I’m glad I did because they had a couple in their kit. After $1 spent and about an hr of work I’m back on the road.

Drove the car for about 75 miles today and it did well. Takes just a little getting used to with the release point, but you catch on quick. Decided to put some more slack on the clutch fork, which meant jacking up the car since I don’t have a firewall adjuster. After backing the not off a couple threads I think it’s perfect.

Always somethin.

Went to a friend’s shop to make an adjustment and get the steering wheel straightened out. While we had it on the rack, we noticed the inner tie rods are somewhat sloppy.

Of course, the flaming river racks take a proprietary inner that has male threads on both ends. So I was stuck shelling $130 after it was all said and done to order a set off summit. Hopefully by Wednesday they’ll be here so I can get them in. I was half tempted to just buy a new rack since they’re $249 off Amazon, and rebuild this one as a spare or for another car.

Had a new pair of mickeys mounted today as well.

Went and picked up a pail of methanol. I have a friend who has a spare water/meth injection tank and pump. I ordered a couple nozzles and bung to install. Also doing a solenoid from prometh so I can control duty cycle using the nitrous output on the megasquirt. Should be a little easier to dial that in as opposed to pulsing the pump itself.

Hopefully those parts will be here tomorrow.

You can mix that instead of using straight. I use boost juice which is essetially 50% i think mixed with water. Some use alcohol in the mix as well. I'm also using prometh and MS to control. where are you injecting?

Yep, I’ll be doing a 50/50 mix. Just bought the methanol separate so I can just mix it myself, a good bit cheaper than using the boost juice.

I’ll be doing it about 6in before the throttle body.
