This thing idles right around 990s. Freezy was the one banging the keys today
thats quite a bit high IMHO... but I am not the one doing the tuning, I also assume it idles lower in gear.. I can usually get most 23x/24x duration cams with a reasonable LSA to idle in the 7-800 range but thats with MS not the holley.

and no its not easily done its alot of work.

and those are amazing numbers BTW... thing should rip at the track

It does idle a touch lower in gear. My cam is in the 250s on the exhaust side duration wise too lol.

I will tell you it’s stupid on the street . I will most likely end up putting the 3.33 pulley I have on it just because I can’t use the power . Lol

So yesterday was a damn roller coaster . We got the car strapped down being that we did 99 percent of the driveability at my house we were sort of ready. Brian checked the map . Let’s make a pull .

3.33 pulley / 8 inch lower . Make a hit to like 5800 and just let off . Car makes 600 to the tire on the button first shot . Clean up the fuel some pull it to 6200 it makes like 606 but it picked up big in the mid range . We’re talking about pulleys . He goes if we’re putting the 3.12 on it let’s do it now this way we can just keep going and we know it’s safe up there . So I start the pulley swap and of course for the first time ever it’s fighting me . I can’t be doing to much so thankful I had my friends there .

I’m holding the radiator pipe and hose ends back to get the pulley off and boom the hose tears at the t stat housing . Great . We fix that . Get it together . Make another pull . 655 on just a pulley change . Clean up fuel some more Make like 670 . Just start getting Into the timing table put fresh plugs in . Make a pull to 7100. 705 . Make another pull 7200 715 .

Put fresh plugs on it . Start it all hell breaks loose it has a dead miss . Check ignition no issues . Pull all the plugs start just checking compression with a finger and 3 cyl feel dead . Pull intake valve covers check rockers and the valve lash was actually getting tight . We loosened them up and boom we had compression again. So we re set them all 1/8 turn passed zero . Make 2 pulls to 7000 again and have the same issue on 2&6 . Mind you first pull 715 backs it up . Second pull 721 .

So long story short we do it again this time we barely put a 1/16th of preload in them . Also tear the upper to lower intake gasket . Thank god Craig radovich had an old one in his shop we sort of had to salvage but It worked . Fire the car up . Rockers are quiet and happy being that loose . We make another pull to 6800 . Brian adds some fuel and we make 726 . Unstrap it . Take it on the street make a hit and it’s just stupid. I come back :poo: eating grin . Has a small header leak might need a gasket .

The rockers we are not sure what the Deal is . We’re thinking hopefully these lifters like this loose lash and my engine buIlder had the wrong info from the start . Seems ok after driving it then taking it off the trailer . Starts up 100x better too

Speaking with Jim Chahalis and Brian they had another set that a few would get stuck in a certain spot , after they pushed on them
Manually they never had an issue again . Keep an eye on it but all is well now .

We spoke today . Brian said no issue we could’ve made 750-770 but for what ? If we’re at the track is one thing but to have where I can take it out beat it up and have fun that’s the goal
Now tell me exactly where you use the 726 hp?..because I cannot imagine it. how does it even stop smoking a tire long enough to keep it off of the rev limiter?

In the 70's it was the Bee Ridge Extension, several miles of 2 lane that was used very little, was in good condition and best of all there was nothing out there!
now around here there are several good roads down in the south county area. Nothing out there too.
It has got to be a blast to be able to roast the tires anytime you want.

Oh from what I saw yesterday it won’t . I may put the 3.33 pulley back on to tame it a bit I wanted to tune it up there so we know it’s safe with the 3.12 pulley . I will get some heat in the tires and give it another go . But I legit had to easy roll in in high gear and I could still feel it hazing the tire . I took it barely to 6k rpm cuz of the road . It went 150 mph at 7k rpm on the dyno lol . So i was moving already in that short hit I made . I won’t let it slap the limiter because I have pedal control I’ll either let out and ease in or just pedal it some and if it don’t feel right I’m out . I have always been that way .

I live at Bent Tree at Bee Ridge extension

I just had it out . Either i need to change that header gasket . Or the slip clamp got loose down at x pipe im thinking gasket. Anyway. HOLY S H I E T

I got on the highway it was dark behind me empty in front i stayed in 2nd cracked it the conveter flashed and jesus . shift light came on i clicked 3rd and was rolling. Easy 130 mph pull like nothing.

Anything short of a 28x10 inch slick, will struggle to hold that kind of power on the street.
I’m sure my 15x10 Et street r radial aired down around 16.5 will be way way better it. Also 60 degrees last night . Like I said have to turn it down at some point but I am like a kid with a new toy

Sometimes I wonder why we do this. I’m thinking we have a valve spring issue . 1000 miles never a hiccup but never any high rpm boost . You take it to the shift light . 2-3 times and the valve lash gets tight and dead miss because the damn thing is bleeding the compression back .

It happened again today . Brian has always been on the money with the springs so I’m wondering if TEA dropped the ball . 2&6 intake are dead nuts tight again I had to limp it 1 exit home nice and easy with it missing .

It’s 165 on the seat and 454 open according to my paper work . At 20 psi may not be enough . But who knows.

Long story short . Motor is almost out .

Engine builder said it sounds like the seats are sinking the valve and that’s where the lash gets tight . On top of that whether related or not trying to figured this out something happened in cyl 7 . Air in the cyl and it pressureizes crank case and I can feel the air coming out of my passenger side valve cover fitting . So it’s hurt . Is what it is . Yes I’m pissed . No I don’t think it’s freezy fault I have full confidence in esp being he tunes these combos every week . Stuff just happens and I’m the luck of the draw . When I’ll be back idk . Atleast it will be out and apart . I’ve been through a lot the last 2 months so I’m burned out at everyend .

Thanks for following along guys . I don’t think much will be going on for a bit.
