Build Thread My Never Ending 89 Notch Thread

Finally got off my ass today , got the Vikings swapped in over my blown out strange struts .

I have rear poly isolators to replace my rear spring iso which only has one rubber on each side . Reason is I want the rear up a tad because I want to try and stuff a 30/45/17 nitto g2 drag radial on my 17s because they last a bit longer and the 28s should make it look tough .

Got around to messing with the car today. Bench bled the 93 cobra 1 inch bore MC. It’s been so long that when I went to install it I forgot that the 93 vs the 94-95 have the fitting sizes backward . The front takes the M12 and the rear takes m10 where as it’s opposite with what I had .

I wasn’t going to spend 42 bucks on two small lines . With an adapter I already have .

So I did some research . Ran to the parts store got two short adapter lines . Got an adapter because one line had the wrong flare the other line I cut down and Re flared . I bent up the lines myself and we are in business . Just have to bleed the whole system .

I wish I could keep them on . I raised the rear up and they just barley scrub on a hard turn or dips still . I’d have to raise it more and make the suspension super stiff and I’m not looking to do that . These are 305/45/17s

I know guys do it but I don’t know how . Not on these roads . I do love the look though

BFH and massage the heck out of the inner fender wells. Helped a buddy do it and I was almost sick when it was done. He ended up using some stuff a body shop buddy gave him to seal up all the small tears in the wheel well metal. This was a drag car so he really didn’t care.

I would just mini tube a Fox Mustang wider than 275 was necessary. Called a guy that mini tubes Foxes and he said $1,100 labor plus the mini tubes and coil over bracket materials. He also said there would be additional labor to remove the interior of that had not been done and to remove anything under the car. He said it’s difficult to be specific there as some people bring him a street car and want turn key where others strip it all out and the car is on a body dolly so it goes right up on the lift and under the knife.

Exactly ! I’m not looking to get that crazy . Believe it or not - the inside is very close to being fine . It doesn’t touch until the read flexs going down the road and it’s almost not at all. It’s the lips and the way I rolled them .

I left too much at the bottom because from a side profile I wanted you to still see it from the side and not see it missing and look hacked . So it catches the transition on bumps and stuff . One day maybe I’ll minitub it myself but for now back to 275s

So what happens with the tires now? You have to sell them or wherever you bought them take them back?
I need new fronts, tire size isn't correct but i'm petrified about what will happen if i'm wrong on what the right size is. Could be a $600 mistake.

It's such a bad sounds listening to them rub as you hit bumps, isnt it?

My buddy and I already worked out he was taking them if they didn’t work . He already ordered me my 275 Mickey in exchange for these . He’s got a aqua pro touring 70 cutlass he just has 3030 wheels build him new wheels 17x11 for the rear . So it’s a wash thankfully

Fronts in 17s in my opinion is a 245/45/17. Something in the neighborhood of 25.7-26 has always looked ideal to me

The sizes for good tires get a little more complicated in 18's. I have a 225/40/18 on the front. They are not correct, too narrow for an 8.5. They are about 25 tall, but i don't have much more room than that. Only 1 good tire is made in a 245/35/18, most extreme summer tires are 255/35/18 which would most likely be the correct size. But now i'd be adding quite a bit of width. The 245/35/18 will be a little short, the 255/35/18 may be a little wide and a 245/40/18 will most likely be a little tall.
The 255 is a good match for what i have now in height, but it's going to be roughly an inch wider.

I think in my case i can do all the math and calculating, but no choice is going to be a sure thing. I've found over the years tires are like sneakers, the same size of two different brands yields different fitments.

I can most likely get the bridgestone 71RS in the 255 at costco, but ouch at $315 per tire plus installation.
The good news is that they will take them back.

I totally get what you mean on tire size . Knowing the nittos ran narrow when I started using them I figured I may be able to cheat with the 305/45 and get the height .

I didn’t realize you had 18s on yours
