Progress Thread “Rising from Ashes 7” 85 GT T-Top build thread

Got to give a huge shoutout to @SorsCode for the SVO sail panels. He wasn’t looking to sell but parted with these cause he got tired of me begging. Ha ha! But I think these really give the 85 a subtle difference. Of course I had to make them mine by pouring on primer

I think the 85/86 windows with those panels is the best look on the Fox!
Now you need some old school Ford Motorsport decals on the windows.

Do you ever think 'crap, maybe I shouldn't have done that'?
I take it there is a method for this 'madness '?
No, but I can see myself saying “crap” I wish I had done this or that. Then redoing it because you know I would. Every car I get ahold of…I get a vison or idea for. Believe it or not…I have some factory low mile ot rarer cars that I leave stock….but even that is hard for me. I enjoy the cars I do but doing them is the real fun for me

I’ve had several requests for info on how I deal with rust. So I’m going to try and go into detail on this framerail.
First step is to investigate and find rust hiding. Some rust is behind metal and causes it to protrude outward. Such in the case here

The way to find it is hit the suspected area with a pick hammer. If theres rust it will go thru and make holes

Next is tearing away metal and getting it all cut out. Its like cancer..if you dont get it all it will come back. Drill spot welds. Cutting wheels etc.

Now thats its exposed. Next will
Be dealing with the inside of the frame rail before replacing all the metal I cut out.
In the meantime…i gotta clean my floor

Awesome post! We see all the great work you do, (on the ridiculous amount of cars) but seeing the “how” and “why” behind it is just as interesting.... to me anyway!! Thank you!
